MBBS Students Not to be Promoted Without Exams:MCI
The Board of Governors of the MCI informed in an advisory that no batch will be permitted to move to the next level of the MBBS course without an examination. The exams will take place as soon as colleges will reopen.
Medical Council of India said in an advisory has informed that no batch will be permitted to promote to the next level of MBBS course without an examination.MCI Board of Governors received various suggestions from students, colleges, and universities regarding the same. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis suggestions were made to promote the MBBS students without exams
The board has released an advisory stating that medical colleges should first try to complete the MBBS course which includes practical sessions, lab work, demonstrations, etc. within two months of the reopening of the medical colleges as and when directed by the government. The advisory further informed that the first MBBS university exams should be conducted.
The pending final year MBBS supplementary examination which was to take place in the first half of the year should ideally be held as soon as the colleges are re-opened as the students are waiting to appear for the exams as they have already completed the course. These students will be joining the medical college/hospitals for an internship after passing the final exams. Therefore, the exams for such students should be conducted first.
Whereas, conducting exams for 2nd/3rd-Part 1and final year MBBS examination will depending upon the re-opening of medical colleges. For 1st Year MBBS students over two months will be required to complete the remaining course, training and practicals.
