Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University to Implement Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme

Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) has been selected to be the regional coordinating institute for the implementation of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a scheme launched by the HRD Ministry to empower people living in villages by providing them training for the development of their skills.

For the smooth implementation of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme, 40 institutions of higher learning were selected by the MHRD throughout the country. These institutions include NITs, IITs, and famous universities across India.

Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Delhi, which is the acting nodal agency at a national level.

The SVVU will be required to coordinate the UBA scheme in several rural areas. It would be undertaking eight Rayalaseema and coastal districts for executing the scheme. In a similar manner, the Andhra University will coordinate the UBA scheme in seven districts that would include the north coastal districts.

These universities will play an important role in designing and training the village people in livelihood skills that will be directed by IIT Delhi . Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University already has skill training programmes for people living in rural areas in the fields of fisheries, veterinary, dairy and others.

MHRD will sanction Rs. 10 lakh to SVVU every year so that the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme can be administered with full efficiency. SVVU is to take up various skill training initiatives in 8 districts in the coming two years.

The vice chancellor of SVVU, Y Haribabu, said that being selected as a coordinating institute for the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme entails a big responsibility for them. They have to look after the effective implementation of the scheme in rural areas and follow the MHRD guidelines. He further added that SVVU will take the scheme to the doorstep of rural and village people with coordination with other institutes of higher learning.
