Eligibility for IIT JAM Chemistry 2025

IIT JAM 2025 is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore on behalf of the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to various Master of Science (MSc) programs offered by IITs, IISc, and other participating institutes.

Educational Criteria

  • Minimum Qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related subject from a recognized university.
  • Minimum Marks: The minimum percentage of marks required may vary depending on the institute and category. However, it is generally around 55-60% (or equivalent CGPA).

Category-wise Eligibility

  • General Category: Candidates belonging to the General category must meet the minimum educational and marks requirements.

Are PCB students eligible to apply for an IIT JAM chemistry?

Yes, candidates from a PCB background are eligible to apply for the IIT JAM 2025 exam. However, candidates have to fulfil the other eligibility criteria for the IIT JAM exam as well.

Who is eligible for IIT JAM Chemistry?

Applicants for IIT JAM 2025 must possess at least 50% marks (or an equivalent grade) from a recognized university. A candidate in the final year of his or her qualifying examination is also eligible to apply.  

Is maths compulsory for MSc Chemistry in iit?

No! Math is not compulsory for MSc and joint MSc PhD in chemistry, Dual degree MSc PhD in environmental science and engineering.
