How to Solve GPAT Previous Year Question Papers Strategically?
Pick a chapter from the syllabus, sayTablets
Review the last 5-6 years of GPAT papers, especially 2024 onwards ever since NBEMS took over NTA as the conducting body, and attempt all the questions from that particular chapter.
- Identify the pattern. See what sort of questions are typically asked from the chapter every year. For instance, if you are solving questions on Tablets, pay attention to how the questions are being posed fromFormulation,Coating, andTroubleshooting. Are the questions repetitive? Then go back to the chapter, and revise those specific topics and sub-topics again.
This reverse approach not only exposes you to the question pattern but also gives you a quick recap of the chapter so you can solve questions quickly in the actual examination.

Essential Tips to Solve GPAT PYQs: Why Post-Paper Analysis Matters
If you want to stand out in the upcoming exam, solving GPAT pyqs under the timer won't be enough. What matters more is how to gauge your practice/ revision work and prepare for the final exam day. Here are some important tips to swear by:
Maintain an error log to review and note down your mistakes, concepts you got wrong, questions you attempted based on guesswork etc. Going through these and self-analyzing your errors will help you understand what to expect and avoid in the actual exam.
Practice 'Option Tracing'. It is an excellent revision strategy that exam toppers follow to the 'T'. For those of you who are unaware of the concept, let us help you understand. The exam conducting body (NBEMS), instead of repeating the exact same question from a previous year question paper, may pick one incorrect option to frame a completely new question around it. For example, if a question is related to 'Capping' (based on Defects of Tablets), you may find the other options related to Mottling, Picking, and Lamination. By studying all four options, you can basically cover the whole 'Tablet Defects' sub-topic with efficiency.
Learn to identify the traps in a question. While solving GPAT question papers, pay attention to how the questions are framed. Notice words, like 'Incorrect', 'Not', 'Except' etc. The more you practice past papers, the easier it will be to retain these hidden traps in your mind.
Lastly, do set a timer while solvingGPAT previous year question papers. To attempt 125 questions in 3 hours, you need to be prompt. So try to solve each question roughly under 2 minutes. Alongside, make use of various online platforms andGPAT 2026 mock testlinks for better preparation.
Answering PYQs is not a checklist to be completed but a tool with which you can determine what you are lacking in your preparations. Consider the last 5 years' papers (2021 onwards) for core practice. Closely study the recent paper trends and chapter weightage discussed previously by our mentors. Focus on numerical and conceptual questions from Biopharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics etc fromGPAT sample papers. Good luck!
