BHU Planning to Start New PG Programme in Artificial Intelligence

Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh or BHU is planning to introduce a new Postgraduate level programme in Artificial Intelligence . As per the reports, the decision is being made based on the utilisation and importance of Artificial Intelligence in vivid areas such as Cyber Security. The launching of the new PG programme in Artificial Intelligence is in line with the New Education Policy 2020 . The New Education Policy 2020 stresses on skills and technology-based learning and the PG Programme in Artificial Intelligence will also majorly focus on both of these factors.

The Vice-Chancellor of BHU, Professor Rakesh Bhatnagar, constituted a committee to explore the various aspects of the new MSc in Artificial Intelligence programme. The first meeting of the committee was chaired by Member Executive Council, BHU, Professor Anand Mohan and was on October 7, 2020. As per the official statement released by the BHU, attendees of the meeting were Professor A K Agrawal, Professor K Subbiah, Professor Banketeshwar Tiwari, Dr Anil Kumar Pandey and Professor S K Singh.

The meeting was a brainstorming session where the suggestions were invited from the members of the committee. The learned members also deliberated over the proposed syllabus and course. The official notification released by the BHU stated that the postgraduate course in Artificial Intelligence is designed to provide trained technical manpower to the nation. The statement further said that the course would be a great asset in the area of the virtual world which would be a contribution to the society and as well to the entire nation.

It is to be noted that the M.Sc in Artificial Intelligence by BHU will be one first-of-its-kind where the course will be offered at the varsity itself.
