Goa: IIT & NIT will be Setup Despite Protests, Assures CM
He further added that there are various attempts to bring politics into the issue, but IIT & NIT will come up in Goa despite protest.
Laxmikant Parsekar, Chief Minister of Goa, assured that Indian Institute of Technology and National Institute of Technology would come up in Goa. The government will not take any opposition regarding the establishment of IIT & NIT into consideration. The objective of the government is to transform Goa into an education hub.
He further added that there are various attempts to bring politics into the issue, but IIT & NIT will come up in Goa despite protest. Education is the only key which makes a man civilised. He made this statement at the inaugural ceremony of the newly constructed building of Government College of Commerce and Economics located at Margao.

He also assured that the state government would complete the construction two more colleges soon. The government has taken up the initiative of constructing five colleges in which three colleges have been completed. He further added that full-fledged principals would be appointed in the government colleges.
Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor of Goa University, indicated that all the universities and colleges must focus on maintaining cleanliness on the campus.

Earlier, the villagers of Canacona resisted the establishment of Indian Institute of Technology near their village as they are facing a water crisis. However, the HRD Ministry has assured that they would build an additional water tank for the villagers and requested them to cooperate in the construction of premier institute. For this purpose, some of the officials from the HRD Ministry visited the village and had an interaction with the villagers. Still, there is opposition to the construction of IIT as well as NIT.
