IIM Kozhikode Hosts Women Entrepreneurship Summit

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode organised a Women Entrepreneurship Summit at the IIM Kozhikode campus. The summit was organised by Entrepreneurship Development Centre of IIM Kozhikode - LIVE (Laboratory for Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship) in collaboration with Calicut Management Association (CMA).

The Women Entrepreneurship Summit was known as UNARUKA 2.0, and the main objective of the summit was to inspire the women of the region to come forward and take up entrepreneurship.

Director of IIM Kozhikode , Professor Debashis Chatterjee delivered the inaugural address at the summit. During his address, he said that women are naturally talented and are capable to drive entrepreneurial ventures and initiate business ideas. According to him, Kerala is one of the most socially progressive states of the country, and it is inclined to produce more successful women entrepreneurs.

He further added that the initial hiccups are common in any business, and one should not blame the market for the same. The founders of business enterprises should be adaptive to the market conditions. There is no shortcut to becoming a successful entrepreneur, he explained.

Laboratory for Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship is working towards bringing a positive change in the society by contributing to the startup ecosystem.

Many eminent personalities such as CMA president Mr. KA Ajayan, CEO Kerala Startup Mission, Dr. Saji Gopinath and others were the speakers at the summit. Nine women entrepreneurs shared their experienced and talked about the challenges they faced in the initial years.
