NEET UG one of the most crucial medical entrance tests in the country is just around the corner and NEET aspirants are burning their midnight oil to do well both in boards and NEET 2020. However, the struggle of J&K students is real as they are coping up with the weak internet.

On August 5, 2019, the Government of India decided to do away with Article 370 due to which there was a complete internet shutdown in J&K. From mobile networks to broadband services, to Wifi all the services were cut off. NEET 2020 aspirants were relying on the internet for their preparation and getting online study material. The announcement of the internet shutdown shook thousands of medical students as they were stressed.

To help the Kashmiri students register for NEET 2020, NTA even came up with the offline registration facility. It was only on January 25, 2020, that 2G mobile internet services were resumed in J&K. According to the reports, students are complaining about NEET 2020 just two months away and the speed of the internet is so slow that even simple audio files take hours to download.

Many NEET aspirants from J&K complained that due to the slow internet speed they are unable to avail of the benefits of the online courses. There was a nearly 6-month shutdown in the Valley and it was for difficult for the students to prepare with the little study material they had provided the fact that the competition is just going to rise due to AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS being scrapped.

Around 1.5 million students have applied for NEET 2020 and more than 30,000 candidates are from Jammu and Kashmir. Bilal, one of the NEET-UG aspirants from Bandipore district revealed that there are many difficulties students are facing even after resuming the low-speed internet services in Kashmir. There is no way to clear the doubts online or take test preps. What is most disheartening is to know what your competitors are working hard to meet their goal and we are deprived of the same.
