How to Calculate NEET 2022 Score

To evaluate NEET 2022 marks and ranks, candidates will first need to find out their probable score. Consult the NEET 2022 Answer Key to calculate your scores roughly. As mentioned, the full marks allotted for NEET Exam are 720. The paper consists of 180 questions, each carrying 4 marks. You get 4 marks for each right answer and 1 mark deducted for every wrong answer. If candidates choose to skip a question or select more than one answer, the particular question will be considered unattempted, which means no marking will be done for that question.

This is how you can predict your NEET 2022 Score:

  • Note down the serial no. of the questions from your NEET exam paper

  • Write +4 marks against every question answered correctly

  • Write -1 mark against each question answered incorrectly

  • Add up all the +4s (positive score or ‘P’) and -1s (negative score or ‘N’) separately

  • Subtract the sum of your negative score from the sum of your positive score i.e. (P-N) = you will get your estimated NEET 2022 Score

Once you are done estimating your NEET score with the help of the Answer Key, you will be able to calculate your NEET 2022 Mark Vs Rank easily. Start by analyzing marks and rankings of the last 3-4 years to predict your All India Rank. To make things easier for you, we have prepared a list of NEET marks vs rank for the years 2021, 2020 and 2019.

The rules for NEET 2022 Tie Breaker are as follows:

  • If two or more candidates end up scoring the same marks, their Biology marks will be taken as a tie-breaker. Therefore, the candidate who gets a higher score in Biology will be assigned a higher rank.

  • If the above process fails to break the tie due to a greater number of candidates securing the same marks, the conducting authority will take Chemistry marks into consideration. Students securing higher marks in Chemistry will thus be awarded a higher rank.

  • In case the above process fails to break the tie, then the number of questions answered incorrectly is counted. The candidate who has given the least number of incorrect answers gets a higher rank.

  • Lastly, if all of the above rules fail to break the tie, the age of the candidates is considered. An older candidate is given preference.
