The Bar Council on India (BCI) conducts the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) twice every year. The AIBE XVII exam is supposed to be held in September 2022 and the application form will tentatively release by the third week of August 2022. Following the order of the Delhi High Court, BCI had released some COVID-related SOPs for AIBE XV which will be followed for AIBE XVII as well. As per the notice, it is crucial to possess the Arogya Setu App and Health Declaration form in order to appear for the AIBE exam.

The AIBE XVII (17) announcement will shortly be made available by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The official website, https://aibe15.allindiabarexamination.com/, will also open registrations for AIBE XVII (17) in 2022 in conjunction with the notice. Application forms for the AIBE 2022 will only be available online, and candidates must enroll with a state bar council to receive an enrolment ID. The AIBE notification is typically released in March or April, however, the Bar Council of India is still deciding on some key AIBE components, such as eligibility requirements, AIBE test format, and AIBE exam mode, for the AIBE XVII (17) 2022 notification.

Once the notification is made public, the precise information on AIBE 2022 will be accessible. However, candidates should be aware of the following adjustments for AIBE 17:

  • Candidates who are pursuing "other professions," that is, fields other than law, are permitted to sit for the AIBE exam and register as advocates provisionally. This could alter the 2022 AIBE eligibility requirements.
  • Modifications to the exam format, as well as the days and times of the exams.
  • For AIBE 2022, BCI will impose stringent testing requirements, therefore candidates could not be permitted to bring any reference materials, including Bare Acts.
  • As of AIBE 2022, a negative marking scheme will be used.

Once the AIBE 17 notification is made public, these changes will be verified. Through the AIBESCOPE mobile application, BCI has already given "Certificates of Practice" to AIBE XVI qualified candidates. Candidates studying for AIBE XVII (17) can find all the latest news and important details about the upcoming exam here.

All candidates who aspire to practice law in India must appear for and clear the AIBE exam. Only after receiving the "Certificate of Practice" from the BCI after clearing AIBE are candidates eligible to practice law in the country. AIBE is conducted in the offline mode across several AIBE exam centres in the country. In this article, all candidates appearing for AIBE (XVII) 2022 will find the exam day guidelines that they must follow.

AIBE (XVII) 2022 Exam Day Guidelines

All candidates appearing for AIBE XVII must follow the instructions that are given by the test centre officials on the exam day. The important AIBE exam day guidelines have been mentioned below.

  • Candidates must not report to the exam centres late. You should make it a point to reach your allocated exam centre at least one hour before the exam starts.

  • In order to avoid any last-minute rush, candidates should check the allotted AIBE test centre name and location beforehand and evaluate the distance and time required to reach the destination. This should be done at least a day or two before the exam day.

  • It is imperative that candidates carry all the necessary items along on the exam day. You should keep everything ready at least one day before the exam so as to avoid last-minute panic.

  • It is mandatory for the test-takers to carry the items mentioned below with them on the exam day:

    • Two ballpoint pens for marking answers on the OMR sheet (colour should either be black or blue)

    • Their AIBE Admit Card (at least two copies)

    • A government-issued photo identity proof (original as well as one copy). These include Driving License/ PAN card/ Voter ID Card/ Aadhaar Card/ Passport/ State Bar Council Advocate Enrollment ID

  • The candidates are prohibited from carrying the following items to the exam centre:

    • Jewellery or any other valuables

    • Electronic items such as smartphones, smartwatches, and tablets

  • The exam centres may or may not have a provision to keep the belongings of the test-takers. Therefore, it is advised that they do not carry any valuable items with them.

  • Candidates are allowed to bring a transparent water bottle with them to the centre.

  • Every AIBE XVII aspirant must ensure that he/ she does not indulge in any last-minute studies or revision. This will not be helpful during the exam.

  • Candidates must keep in mind at all times that they have to manage their time wisely. They must follow proper time management so that they are able to complete the exam within the given duration.

  • Read the directions in the question booklet carefully and abide by the invigilator's instructions.

  • Start with the simple questions first to avoid missing out on questions with a high chance of success. Additionally, try not to panic if you are unable to find the answer to a question. Keep your cool and ask the following question instead. Come return and retake the exam after you have finished the remaining questions.
  • When you're taking an exam, time goes by quickly. But you need to clear your thoughts of distraction and maintain concentration if you want to slow it down and make sure you can answer all 100 questions. Take each question on the exam paper when it is presented to you; don't look or think too far ahead. Keep in mind that the poise you exhibit right now will pay off generously. Follow the advice in the previous sentence: begin by answering the simple questions, then move on to the others; don't waste time on challenging ones (especially at the beginning).
