You may be wondering which subject combination in theCTET exam 2026scored better, provided that you appeared in CTET Paper 2 this February. Using the professional opinions of both exam days, we have scaled the levels of difficulty, question patterns and scoring potential to enable us to put the candidates at an advantage.

Applicants of CTET Paper 2 have two possible combinations of subjects: Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science. Each of the two parts has an equal weightage, but the level of difficulty and scoring potential may vary greatly depending on the pattern of questions and your level of preparation.

On 7th February, the Mathematics and Science section was projected as average with NCERT-based questions, which were time-consuming. The science section was based more on concepts of the NCERT, and in Math, the paper was a bit lengthy as more time was spent on calculations. On the other hand, Social Science was rated moderate, but had more statement-based and assertion-reasoning questions.

Patterns were similar in both sections on 8th February. Mathematics & Science was rated as easy to moderate with high NCERT emphasis. The questions were both direct and application questions. Social Studies went on with the content-based and pedagogical questions of the same difficulty level.

Which Section Was More Scoring in CTET 2026?

According to the detailed expert student comments and consultation, Mathematics & Science became the most scoring for those who were well-prepared for the CTET Exam 2026. Let us understand why:

Being an expert in the education field, I can foresee more intensive changes in the direction of analytical application rather than rote memory during the July 2026 session. This is predicted after seeing the great increase in the number of Assertion-Reasoning and NCERT-conceptual questions witnessed in the recent February shifts.

The most important things to follow in order to achieve success would be Algebra, Geometry, and Number System (Maths) and Living World/Natural Phenomena (Science), because these subjects were the ones which had the highest weightages and the best possibility of accuracy. Child Development & Pedagogy (CDP) is the tie-breaker, so one has to master NEP 2020 and Inclusive Education.

For this year’s exam, both sections were providing equal chances of scoring well, with a minor benefit to the candidates of Mathematics and Science, where the questions were strictly adherent to NCERT. Observing from an expert’s eye, it can be said that there was no unequal level of difficulty in both options offered by CBSE, and no subject had an unfair advantage. You must go with your strength of preparation as opposed to the perceived challenge because comprehensive NCERT coverage can lead you to the winning side.
