GATE 2025 MT Qualifying Cutoff Marks: The qualifying marks for the GATE Metallurgical Engineering (MT) exam 2025 have been released. The GATE 2025 MT cutoff scores is released based on the categories of the students. The GATE 2025 MT qualifying marks for general is 40 for OBC/NCL is 35.6 and for SC/ST/PwD is 26.6. On average, around 3,000 students appear for the GATE Metallurgical Engineering exam every year. In the year 2024, a total of 3,111 students appeared in the exam, while only 723 met the required minimum qualifying cutoff marks. The GATE 2025 MT cutoff marks is determined based on several factors including the overall difficulty level of the GATE 2025 exam , the number of students participating, and the number of seats available in the respective GATE 2025 participating colleges .

The GATE MT cutoff 2025 for the general category has been released. In the past year, the qualifying marks for General students in Metallurgical Engineering have seen a significant dip. While the cutoff mark for GATE 2023 was 47.5, in the year 2024 it was only 41 and in 2025 it is 40. The GATE 2025 MT qualifying cutoff marks for the General category can be checked below.

What is the lowest GATE score for IIT?

The minimum GATE qualifying score is the GATE 2025 cutoff mark. The GATE cutoff marks will be released by IIT Roorkee along with the GATE 2025 result.  

Can I get IIT with 40 marks in GATE MT?

The GATE 2025 participating colleges will be releasing their respecting college cutoff during the admission process. However, the GATE MT qualifying marks are expected to be 44.5, 28.5, and 36.9 for the General, SC/ST, and OBC/EWS categories. Therefore, 40 marks will be good enough for the latter two categories to qualify for the exam.
