Since the field of design is relatively new and belongs to the category of up and coming streams in the country, IGNOU has started including design programmes in its curriculum only recently. As of now, the university offers just one course in design but it will soon add more programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Design Courses at IGNOU: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates planning to pursue a Certificate in Fashion Design course at IGNOU must check the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. It must be noted that only candidates who meet all the eligibility requirements will be granted admission. Check out the CFDE eligibility criteria mentioned below: 

• Applicants must have completed their higher secondary education or class 12th. 
• However, the student doesn't need to clear class 12th in the regular mode. The ones with degrees through distance education are also eligible to apply.
• The candidate must have secured passing marks in all the subjects at the 10+2 level.
• It permits students from all disciplines and streams for the course.

IGNOU CFDE Syllabus, Course Structure and Credit System 

The table given below provides all the subjects that a candidate will have to study while completing the Certificate in Fashion Design degree from IGNOU. The entire syllabus of CFDE has been listed along with the topics that will be covered in each subject.

Credit System

CFDE is a Certificate level design course at IGNOU with 16 credits. Students can complete this degree in as little as six months or as many as two years. The 'Credit System' is used by the University for various programmes. Each credit is for 30 hours of study, which includes all learning activities. As a result, a 4-credit course requires 120 study hours. This enables the learner to comprehend the intellectual work required to effectively complete a course. The curriculum involves satisfactory completion of assignments (internal theory and practical assessment), the Term-end Theory Examination, and the Term-end Practical Examination for each course in the curriculum.

IGNOU CFDE Application Process

The application process for IGNOU CFDE can be done by the candidates in both modes - online & offline. However, it must be noted that with the correct procedure, students can easily fill up the form without wasting time in researching. IGNOU Online Application Process

• The candidate must visit the official website of Indira Gandhi National Open University as the online application process will be facilitated from there.
• On the home page, the candidate will find a bar at the top of the page which will have several options. The student will have to click on the third option which will be titled "Register Online'.
• Clicking on the option will open a drop-down menu which will further have many choices regarding the registration process.
• The student will have to click on ‘Fresh Registration’ and begin the process as a new user. This will take him/ her to the admission subpage of IGNOU.
• In the first step, the candidate will be required to register himself/ herself by entering some basic credentials like name, gender, date of birth, e-mail address, and mobile number.
• The contact information of the candidate will be verified and then he/ she will have to create a unique user ID and set a password.
• Once the account has been created, the student can proceed to fill the application form by logging in through his/ her user name and password.
• After that, the applicant can fill the application form by providing all the details that are asked for in the form.
• The personal details of the applicant will be asked in the first section and he/ she will have to enter all the details like the school of study and programme in which he/ she seeks admission.
• Upon entering the personal details, the student will have to provide valid information of all the academic qualifications and marks etc.
• In the next step, the candidate will have to upload scanned copies of the documents required for applying to the IGNOU design course.
• Students must have all the necessary documents ready while filling the application form of IGNOU. They are required to upload all the correct documents for the verification of their eligibility.
• After submitting the form, the candidates will have to pay the admission and application fee online. They can do so through any online payment gateway like a debit card, a credit card, net banking, etc.
• Candidates can take a print out of the submitted application form and the fee receipt and keep it for future use.

IGNOU Offline Application Process

• The candidate will be required to visit any IGNOU Regional Centre that is the nearest to him/ her.
• He/ she will have to purchase the application form by paying the application fee through a demand draft (DD) which will be drawn in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi.
• The student will have to fill in the form manually and enter all the personal and academic details carefully.
• After that, the applicant will have to attach photocopies of the documents that are asked for in the form.
• Once the application form is completely filled, the candidate can visit any regional centre and submit the form.
• He/ she will receive a confirmation about the acceptance of the form via email or SMS within 45 business days.
