Strategy to Solve CAT Previous Year Question Papers
Here are a few expert tips on how to approach previous year question papers of CAT to your benefit:
First things first, go through the last 5-6 years CAT papers for a thorough assessment - identify the sort of questions that are most frequenty asked, check if there has been any change in the question pattern. For example, if you look at the past papers closely, you will see there here has been an increase in the TITA (Type in the Answer) questions, wherein you have to manually type your answers. This has eliminated the option of negativemarking but at the same time, increased the difficulty level of the questions.
Allocate each day to each subject/ section. You could sit with the Quant Aptitude questions on Day 1 - during this time, try solving as many questions as you can under timed condition. On Day 2, sit with DILR papers - while solving these, analyze the patterns of various puzzles (mirror images, rotational images, paper cutting and folding, matrix reasoning etc.). You will get a fair idea of the questions likely to appear from these.
