The GATE 2022 Electrical Engineering examination will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur on 05th February during the afternoon session. By securing the required qualifying marks in the upcoming GATE examination, the electrical engineering aspirants can secure a seat in their desired participating institutions. This article, where we will discuss the previous year’s GATE electrical engineering exam and paper, will help the current GATE EE aspirants to predict the difficulty level and topic-wise weightage of the GATE 2022 exam. 

Last year, IIT Bombay conducted the GATE electrical engineering examination on 07th February during the morning session. Given below are the previous year GATE EE exam difficulty level and expected topic-wise weightage based on which the current candidates can predict this year’s difficulty level and topic-wise weightage.

GATE 2021 Electrical Engineering Exam Analysis 

  • The overall difficulty level of the GATE 2021 electrical engineering exam was moderate

  • There were a total of 31 NAT questions in the previous year paper

  • There were a total of 24 MCQ questions in the previous year paper

  • The Engineering Mathematics section was moderately challenging

  • The General Aptitude section was easy

  • Electric Circuits and Power Systems were those topics that received maximum weightage

  • The topics that were difficult to score were based on topics like Control Systems and Electrical Machines

  • Candidates who attempted 40 questions fell into the “Good Attempt” category
