Since its establishment in 1981, the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies has grown to become a recognised institution on a global scale. The Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), a group renowned for its social concern, made the decision to meet India's growing need for management colleges. This paved the ground for the establishment of the Mumbai-based Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. The Mumbai University was the institution's first to grant it recognition. Above Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle (West), Mumbai, the institute opened its doors to 40 students and four full-time faculty members. A two-year, full-time, regular master's degree in management studies was the first course offered by the institution. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies faculty members are ten. The institute provides Fulbright Scholarships and Humboldt International Scholarships for post-doctoral researchers out of the institute's 750 full-time faculty members.
