About Civil Engineering PSU Recruitment Through GATE 2024 

There are two methods of recruiting candidates for PSU jobs: through a recruitment test and through the GATE entrance exam. For GATE, the candidates will have to score the determined qualifying score for PSU which will be set on the basis of the number of vacancies. While some PSUs consider only the candidates who have secured the minimum qualifying score for recruitment, some PSUs allow all the GATE qualifying candidates to apply. There are majorly three categories of PSUs in India that are divided on the basis of investment policies and other attributes. The categorization of PSUs in India is explained in the points below:

  1. Navratnas: These are the PSUs that come under the SEBI regulations, are publicly listed, have international operations & a global presence. Navratna PSUs are the companies that have a high turnover (approx 2000 crore annually). Some of the popular examples of Navratna PSUs are GAIL, ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation, and others.

  2. Maharatnas: There are a total of 16 Maharatnas PSUs in India. Just like Navratnas, these PSUs come under the CPSE criteria. Maharatna PSUs are the companies that have a medium to high turnover. Some of the popular examples of Navratna PSUs are NBCC (National building construction corporation), NMDC, Oil India Limited, Bharat petroleum corporation limited (BPCL), and others. 

  3. Miniratnas: Miniratnas PSUs are companies that make fewer profits but can be efficiently competitive in the market. The Miniratnas are further classified into sub-categories: Category I and Category II. Some of the popular examples of Navratna PSUs are BSNL, BEML Limited, Central Coalfields Limited, and others.
