Xinjiang Medical University which was formerly known as Xinjiang Medical college was established in 1956. The college was merged with Xinjiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine to form Xinjiang Medical University in June 1998. It is located in Urumqi city, the capital of Xinjiang. The University is officially included in the 156 key projects of the national first five-year plan. The motto of the University is ‘learning, practicing, doctoring, and innovating’. Xinjiang Medical University aims at offering socialist education and protecting the health of people by producing the best medical graduates from Xinjiang Medical University. Xinjiang Medical University is officially accredited and recognized by the Department of Education of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The university is divided into four campuses namely north campus, Mingyuan campus, and Fangfangg Ou campus. The fourth campus Hema Spring New Summer campus is under construction. The courses at the university are offered under four disciplines namely medicine, management, science and literature. It has six affiliated hospitals from  where the medical students can undergo internship and training programme
