Founded in 1996, the Fontys University of Applied Sciences is the largest public University of Applied Sciences in the southern region of the Netherlands. Fontys was established with a mission to offer outstanding education to those interested in technology, creativity and entrepreneurship. The university is famous for its extensive research work that has been carried out to bring a change in society. All bachelors and masters degree programmes offered at the Fontys University of Applied Science are accredited by NVAO (Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders).
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The Fontys University of Applied Sciences has three campuses located at Eindhoven, Tilburg and Venlo, in the Netherlands. The University offers a number of International English-taught bachelors and master's degree programmes at these locations. The campuses are well equipped and have modern facilities and infrastructure to maintain high standards and quality of education. The basic amenities and facilities available include well-furnished classrooms, libraries, computer labs, restaurants and wireless internet throughout the campuses. The university offers a total of 477 bachelors, masters and other study programmes. Among these courses, 34 courses are English taught programmes. Students interested in pursuing higher education in the country can pursue courses in Teacher Training, Logistics, Language, ICT, Engineering, Economics and Marketing, Creative, Communication, Arts and Allied Health Professions. The University offers both part-time and full-time courses at the different campuses as well.

Fontys is actively involved in offering education that motivates students to work towards sustainable development and take up social responsibility in the future. The vision of the university is to educate the present and future generations to work towards a social cause for a better tomorrow. To achieve its desired goals, Fontys University of Applied Sciences works closely with organisations and professionals across different industries and provides the necessary industry-specific knowledge to the students. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is an important part of education and research at Fontys. The Fontys’ alumni network is a community of students who have graduated from the university. It is a platform for the alumni and faculty members to stay connected and share their experiences and knowledge with fellow community members. The university keeps students informed about the latest developments and events being conducted at the university and encourages them to be part of it.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
More than 44,000 students study at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences among which around 5,200 are international students belonging to 100 different countries. Every year, around 7,600 students graduate from Fontys University of Applied Sciences. Courses offered at Fontys University of Applied Science are practically oriented and open up possibilities for internships and job opportunities after the completion of the course. The university invites employers to the university to hire students for internships and jobs. Based on their skills and experience, students are placed across different companies and organizations as soon as they complete their studies.
Assuring the safety of all its community members, Fontys University of Applied Sciences has established an appropriate COVID-19 Response. In a bid to reduce the spread of the virus, the university has adapted its processes, from hybrid models of learning as well as strict social distancing measures.
As per the final decision of the Government, Fontys is expecting to reopen the campus and offer face to face classes at least once a week from March 29, 2021.
Students and staff at Fontys can access the online library for articles, e-books, e-journals, online videos etc.
Self-study or group work on any of the Fontys campus is, currently, not permitted.
Once members who will be granted permission by the building managers will be allowed to enter the campus premises.
Within the campus, students, staff and faculty members must follow the safety guidelines like the use of masks all the time, sanitisation, social distancing and hygiene.
The Holland Scholarship is financed jointly by the Fontys University of Applied Sciences and the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to provide scholarships to international students enrolled at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. It is a partial scholarship available for first-year students.

The general eligibility criteria that students need to satisfy for them to be considered for the Holland Scholarships are as follows:
Must be a non-EEA student.
Must be enrolled in full-time bachelor’s or master’s programmes at Fontys University of Applied Sciences.
Must not hold any other degree from an education institution in the Netherlands.
How to Apply for Holland Scholarships?
The candidate must meet the admission requirements of the programme and scholarship before applying for it. The application can be found on the scholarship page of the official university website, i.e. www.studyinholland.nl/hollandscholarship.
All aspirants are required to ensure that they submit the Holland Scholarship application form before the specified deadline.
Application Dates 2021: The application process begins on November 1, 2020, and ends either on February 1 or May 1, 2020.
The Top Talent Scholarships are awarded to outstanding non-EU students who are enrolled in Fontys Technology Bachelors (FTB) at Eindhoven. The scholarship can be awarded four times throughout the course.
Value: € 2100
The general eligibility criteria for international students to be considered for Top Talent Scholarships are as follows:
Must be enrolled in a four years B.Sc degree programme at Fontys.
Must have excellent scores in senior secondary school. The average marks in Mathematics and Physics must be 75% or higher.
Must not have completed a bachelor's degree from any other university college before.
How to Apply for Top Talent Scholarships?
Candidates can complete the application process for the Top Talent Scholarships on Studielink.nl. The scholarship is limited and hence competitive. The scholarship is awarded to deserving candidates by the end of October.
The Fontys Academy for Creative Industries (ACI) offers a Creative Mind Scholarship to support creative and innovative youths to study at ACI. Every year, three scholarships are awarded to students under this category.
Value: € 3,000. It is a one-time payment and is awarded by October.
The minimum eligibility criteria to receive the Creative Mind Scholarship scholarship is as follows:
Must be a non-EEA candidate.
Must not hold any other degree from the Netherlands.
Must be enrolled in an ACI study programme.
Must demonstrate a creative, innovative and focused mind.
Only those candidates enrolled in the required course at the Fontys will be considered eligible.
How to Apply for a Creative Mind Scholarship?
Candidates interested in the Creative Mind Scholarship must send the scholarship application and required documents at firstname.lastname@example.org along with other documents like a motivation letter, academic records and CV.
