As more and more people around the world become vaccinated against the novel COVID-19 and its different variants, universities across the world contemplate whether reopening the campus for in-person activities can resume.
One such university, the University of Waterloo in Canada, is set to return to pre-pandemic levels of in-person learning for the coming winter session. In a press release, The University highlighted the vaccination rates on campus as the primary reason for the decision.
The university highlighted in the press release that 95% of the 30,000 people who have revealed their vaccine status are completely vaccinated. Additionally, a large portion of the remaining people have received the first dose and are expected to be vaccinated by 17th Oct.
While the pandemics course can be predicted and what may happen by the start of next year remains uncertain, the university argues that vaccination against the virus will be key in returning to and experiencing teaching and learning post-pandemic.

As per reports, selection to the undergraduate course is scheduled to commence in the near future, meanwhile, the course selection at the graduate level is scheduled to be held during December this year.
However, the school has advised and requested all to be vigilant, wearing masks, practising physical distancing and following the public health instructions of the province, to help curb the spread of the novel virus.

The University also highlighted that its plans remain flexible in case the public health conditions change. Necessary steps will be taken in such cases by reducing the in-person experiences and the university will communicate the appropriate measures accordingly.
It should be noted that a few international students will continue to face challenges in entering the country. However, the university has given assurance to students by announcing that its officials are working with the government, addressing the various concerns of the students.
