CBSE Class 12th OSM Controversy: Why CBSE Slashed the Fees
This year, we saw a dip in the overall passing percentage for CBSE class 12, because of which there was a massive outrage among the students. According to the initial reactions after the release of the CBSE class 12th results, many students reported that they received fewer marks than they anticipated.
Addressing the same, the officials from CBSE acknowledged that there have been initial technical glitches, login issues, system overload plus scanning deficiency; however, none of these directly affected marking standards. To ensure transparency in checking the answer sheets, a total of 68,018 answer books were rescanned due to poor image quality, with 13,583 answer books pulled out to be checked manually.
To provide relief to students, the application fee for revaluation was slashed. The decision was taken to address the anxiety among students and provide them with an opportunity to go through their answer books and point out any unfair markings.
CBSE Class 12 Re-Evaluation "Full Refund Rule" 2026
Another big relief issued after the OSM controversy for class 12 students is the full refund rule, under which if your marks increase after verification, then the full fee will be refunded. Previously, there was no such rule by CBSE; however, this year, it has been implemented to address the issues that the students are currently facing.
An updated marksheet will be provided to you with the help of your respective schools if your marks increase after verification/revaluation. Do not forget to fill out the application before the deadline, since late applications are not accepted by CBSE.
