CLAT 2026 Syllabus: The Consortium of National Law Universities releases the syllabus of the Common Law Admission Test every year. How to Prepare CLAT 2026 Syllabus?
Wondering how to prepare the CLAT 2026 syllabus within a few months? We have listed the essential preparation guidelines below. The CLAT UG 2026 exam will be conducted offline for a duration of 2 hours. There are 120 multiple-choice questions asked in CLAT, and each one is worth one mark. There is also a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Hence, you need to prepare the CLAT 2026 syllabus better to minimise your chances of getting negative scores.
- Understand Exam Structure and Syllabus Thoroughly: Understand the complete CLAT 2026 syllabus, CLAT exam pattern , marking structure, and sectional weighting before you start. In this way, you will be able to create a targeted study plan.
- Prepare a Balanced Study Plan and Stick to it: Start in early 2025, 10-12 months before the exam. Divide your plan into three stages: foundation, practice, and review. Allocate enough time for each phase. Don't forget to practice and revise in a timely manner.
- Master Passage-Based English: Practice reading comprehension passages (about 450 words) every day with embedded grammar and vocabulary questions, focusing on usage, tone, inference, and summary.
- Stay Updated and Create GK Notes: Make short notes and update them regularly to maintain static and up-to-date GK information. Stay updated on national and international events, sports, awards, arts, etc.
- Sharpen Legal Reasoning: Focus on understanding legal principles, legal maxims, essential statutes (e.g., IPC, Constitution, Contract Act, Family Law), and apply them to scenarios within passages. Practice applying them logically instead of just memorising.
- Improve Your Logical Reasoning Skills: Practice critical and analytical reasoning skills via passage-based exercises and answer questions about inference, analogies, assumptions, syllogisms, puzzles, blood relations, etc.
- Practice Quantitative Techniques Daily: Study arithmetic and data interpretation along with other topics such as percentages, ratios and proportions, averages, profit and loss, work and time, probability, mensuration, clocks, and calendars. Solve at least one DI set per day to increase speed under time limitations.
- Maintain a Strong Reading Habit: Read newspapers and magazines daily. Also, study other fiction and non-fiction write-ups regularly to improve your reading comprehension. It will also help you know the current affairs, which is important for the current affairs and GK section.
- Take Regular Mock Tests: Take as many full-length CLAT mock tests as you can. Set a 120-minute time limit and finish at least one mock test every week, then more. It will improve your accuracy, speed, and time management while also helping you identify your weak areas. Solving CLAT previous year question papers will also help you get an idea of the exam.
