M Tech in Construction Management Eligibility Criteria

Construction Management is a Post-Graduate (PG) level course which is done after a bachelors degree in similar or allied courses. Following are the detailed eligibility criteria for M.Tech in Construction Management:

  • B Tech, B Arch or B Plan with minimum 50% marks

  • Those who have graduated with B.Tech must have studied, Civil or Mechanical engineering. Some institutes accept other streams for the graduation criteria as well. In that case, the aspirant has to confirm by getting in contact with the institute.

  • It also depends upon the score of the GATE Examination (Some colleges do not require GATE score, students need to check with the respective colleges in this case).

M Tech Construction Management Admission & Selection Process 2020

Different colleges have different application processes for M.Tech Construction Management admission 2020. Some colleges conduct admissions on the basis of the GATE Examination whereas some colleges take admission on the basis of merit directly or through the college's own admission test. Following are the different admission processes for M.Tech in Construction Management:

Admission on the basis of Common Entrance Test

The admissions for M.Tech in Construction Management through common entrance test includes GATE and the GATE score is considered for admissions at IITs and NITs. After the student has qualified GATE, the student has to register himself/herself with the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) which is the centralised counselling portal for granting admission in M.Tech courses in the respective institute.

Admission on the basis of Merit and Academic History

This process is followed by private institutes mainly. In this method, the admissions for M.Tech in Construction Management will be granted according to the percentage of marks the student has at the bachelors level. Some colleges which conduct admissions through GATE or Institute Entrance Examination also follow this method to fill up management quota seats or if seats are vacant.

Admission on the basis of the Institute Entrance Examination

Many private institutes rely on their own institute level entrance tests for selection of a candidate in M.Tech in Construction Management. In some cases, if the candidate has qualified GATE, the institute exempts him/her from the institute entrance examination. Private universities such as Amity Univerisity, Noida follow this type of admission process.

Different colleges charge a different amount for pursuing a course in construction management. The highest fee in construction management is Rs.13.8 lakh per annum which is charged by Amity University, Noida. The course is offered at other private engineering institutes at roughly Rs. 5 lakh.
