Agriculture employs more than half of India's workforce. The share of people employed in agriculture and related activities is over 80% when we consider only the rural population of India. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is the governing body responsible for the development of agricultural higher education in India. It oversees the courses, curriculum and provides recognition to colleges offering Agriculture courses in India.
