    As per the recent TNAU admission notifications 2022, TNAU has released the counselling schedule for undergraduate admissions. Click here to check the schedule. Online applications for admissions to PG courses are currently available on the TNAU website. 

    Tamil Nadu Agricultural University or TNAU was founded in 1876 as an agriculture university in Tamil Nadu, and later TNAU campus was transferred to the city of Coimbatore in 1906. The college is affiliated to the University of Madras. According to Tamil Nadu's Department of Education, the institution is recognised by the UGC. TNAU is accredited by ICAR. Some of the TNAU facilities include a lecture hall with space for 80 people, a computer facility with ten desktop PCs, a library with a total of 1538 books, a seed testing laboratory, a germination room, a seed health lab, and a DNA fingerprinting lab.

    Students can choose from a wide range of TNAU Coimbatore courses comprising undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate degrees at the institution. Students in their first year are required to have their own computers due to the university's shift to e-learning in 2007. Additionally, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University presently has research programmes at over 32 locations around Tamil Nadu, employing over 1200 scientists and educators.

    New TNAU courses have been developed as a result of worldwide technological advancements. Some of these TNAU Coimbatore courses include B.Tech in Food Process Engineering, which was introduced in the academic year 1998-99. Agricultural biotechnology was introduced in the academic year 2002-2003, and horticulture in the academic year 2003-2004 as self-supporting programmes. B.Tech in Energy and Environmental Engineering and B.Tech in Bioinformatics degree programmes were launched in 2004. Agriculture information technology and agribusiness management degree programmes were launched in 2007 by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.     TNAU Courses

    Tamil Nadu Agricultural University course list comprises 72 courses. TNAU courses include 12 undergraduate, 32 postgraduate, and 28 doctorate levels courses. Engineering, architecture, art, humanities and social sciences, sciences, law, education, commerce, computer application, and IT, management, and business administration are just a few of the subjects covered.     Students who wish to secure a seat at TN Agricultural University, must be aware of the TNAU admission process. Candidates also need to complete their TNAU application process as part of the admission process. Candidates need to visit the TNAU official website, and fill in the application form.     TNAU Cut Off

    TNAU cutoff is the minimum marks required to get accepted into the university. It is mandatory for candidates to meet the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University cutoff if they want to get admitted to the university.  Undergraduate programmes in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry are available at the Tamilnadu Agricultural University, including BSc (Hons), BTech, BS, and Diploma. The university first publishes TNAU rank list of qualifying students, which is followed by several rounds of counseling.     The TNAU placement unit connects job seekers with employers. The university's placement cell organises a variety of activities to help with the TNAU placement process. According to the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University placement report for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees for 2019-20, 201 students who completed their undergraduate courses were successfully placed out of 1127 eligible students for placements, while 228 students chose to pursue higher education. In 2019-20, the median salary offered to students at Tamilnadu Agricultural University Coimbatore after completing UG and PG courses was Rs 4,50,000 and Rs 5,04,000, respectively. 

    TNAU placement cell hosts motivational presentations by notable individuals as well as alumni of the college. It also prepares students for real-life situations by holding mock group discussions and interviews.     TNAU Scholarships

    There are several scholarship programmes at Tamilnadu Agri University Coimbatore for its students. TNAU scholarship facilities for UG and PG students help the students with financial assistance and reward academic performances. The TNAU scholarship programmes are listed below, with the criteria to be fulfilled by students to be eligible for them.

    • Merit-cum Scholarship: Merit-cum-Means scholarship is available for meritorious students who get ranked in the top 10 rank holders. Their scholarship varies every year depending on the fee structure.
    • Backward Class Scholarships: This scholarship is available for students who belong to the backward categories pursuing any course at TNAU. The scholarship amount varies every year depending on the fee structure. 
    • Kokilavani, Hemalatha & Gayathri Endowment: Under this TNAU Scholarship programme, a sum of Rs 6000 is offered to the students per annum.
    • ICAR National Talent Scholarship: Under this TNAU Scholarship programme, a sum of Rs 1000 is offered to the students for 10 months.
    • Vedavalli Endowment: Under this TNAU Scholarship programme, a sum of Rs 7000 is offered to the students yearly.
    • R.Krishan Endowment: Under this TNAU Scholarship programme, a sum of Rs 2000 is offered to the students per annum.
    • Periyar Endowment: Under this TNAU Scholarship programme, a sum of Rs 5000 is offered to the students yearly.
    • National Foundation for Teacher welfare: Under this TNAU Scholarship programme, a sum of Rs 5000 is offered to the students per annum.

    In addition to the above-mentioned TNAU scholarship programmes, there are various other scholarships provided to the students at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University as well. Under the Farmer's Security scheme, the boys who live in the college hostel are given Rs 4250, whereas day scholar boys are offered Rs 2250. Girls staying at the college hostel are offered Rs 4750, while day scholar girls are given Rs 2750 as scholarships.

    There are various CM Awards that are specially for SC and ST students. Rs 3000 is provided to the students who come under this category. There is a TNAU scholarship named SC grant under which students are given Rs 8000 per month. Concession on tuition fees for SC/ST First Graduate BC/MBC - There are no income restrictions, and tuition fees are merely refunded. Scholarships from different organisations are available to outstanding students. The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University scholarships listed above are awarded based on merit.     • Gymnasium- The Gymnasium is one of the campus facilities at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Students can take care of their health and fitness by using the University's gymnasium. The gym has a good selection of workout and training equipment. Students can use the gym to stay fit and healthy.
    • Library- A library is part of the TNAU facilities. Many books, journals, magazines, e-books, CDs, DVDs, and national and international periodicals are available at the library. The TNAU library is large and offers enough seating for students. There are around 1570 books in it.
    • Sports- Students at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University have access to a variety of sporting facilities. Fields and venues for numerous indoor and outdoor games are included.
    • Cafeteria- The institution has a cafeteria where students, teachers, and staff can get good and nutritious meals.
    • Auditorium- Students and professors use the University's auditorium on a regular basis for various activities and functions. They have the most up-to-date audio-visual equipment.

    • National Cadet Corps- The NCC Unit of Tamilnadu Agriculture College Coimbatore has 104 cadets, including first, second, and third-year NCC cadets enrolled in various degree programmes. Under the Kovai NCC Group Head Quarters in Singanallur, Coimbatore, 52 boys and 52 females make up the 4 Tamil Nadu Battalion NCC and the 5 Tamil Nadu Battalion NCC.
    • National Service Scheme- National Service Scheme is a curricular programme at the Tamilnadu Agricultural University with a credit load of 0+1 at TNAU. Volunteers will participate in regular activities in the institutions and adopted villages for the first four semesters. At the end of the fourth semester, a special camp is held in the adopted communities for seven days, during which the students are required to reside in the area. TNAU is made up of 25 financed and 19 self-supported divisions that serve 14 constituent and 27 affiliated institutions.
    • On-campus, there are labs for big data and artificial intelligence. The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University also has a computer lab for students. Classrooms are equipped with audio-visual aids, including a sophisticated LCD projection system with all multimedia accessories. The laboratories of TNAU Chennai are air-conditioned and equipped with a variety of modern instrumental facilities in all subjects. They are opulent, but also well-equipped.

    TNAU Awards, Recognition, Accreditations, and Collaborations

    • Need-based research activities are carried out to address the issues faced by the food processing industry, farmers, and entrepreneurs. Priority study areas for community welfare include quality production, processing, and value addition for safe consumption. International organizations such as the FAO, McGill University in Canada, the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, and Cornell University in the United States, as well as national organizations such as the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, National Medicinal Plans Board, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, University Grants Commission, and Bambo
    • Karamanithoppu hamlet in Orathanadu block, Thanjavur district, has been adopted as part of the Village Adoption programme, and demonstrations on new agricultural Technology, eco-friendly activities, and other topics are being held.
    • Ainthinai Vanam, a novel concept, has been built on the college campus to show the value of native species in preserving bio-diversity.
    • The "Own Your Tree" programme has been established, and trees are being fostered both on campus and in the adopted town of Karamanithoppu.
    • R. Sivashankari, Ph.D., a student at the Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre in Canada, participated in a summer student internship programme.
    • During the year 2009, E. Tamilselvi, a recipient of a student grant, visited the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, as part of the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Association's 'Using green lentils in traditional Indian foods' scheme.

    • President of India Srimathi Prathiba Patel gave the National KVK Award 2009 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, on December 22, 2010, in Udaipur, Rajasthan. 
    • On February 10, 2011, the Government of India gave the Gold Award 2011 for e-Governance in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. 
    • Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Mumbai, presented the Krishi Shiksha Award 2011 for Best State Agricultural University on February 21, 2011, in New Delhi. 
    • The Network of Indian Agri-Business Incubators (NIABI) presented the Best Agri-Business Directorate 2011 on March 9, 2011, at ICRISAT, Hyderabad. 
    • Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award 2010 was presented on July 16, 2011, at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. 
    • Agriculture Today Magazine presented the Agriculture Leadership Award 2011 to Tamil Nadu Agriculture University for excellent contributions on September 14, 2011, in New Delhi. 
    • Outstanding Performance as DUS Test Centre Award 2010 – 2011 (State Agricultural University Category) given by the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, New Delhi. 
    • The Directorate of Oilseeds Research, ICAR, Hyderabad awarded the Tapioca and Castor Research Station, TNAU, Yethapur, the Best AICRP (Castor) Centre Award in 2011.

    • The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, New Delhi, presented the National Intellectual Property Awards 2013, Top Indian Academic Institution in Patent, on April 26, 2013. 
    • Award for the Best Seed Technology Research Center in 2013-14: The TNAU Seed Centre was awarded the "Best Seed Technology Research Centre" of ICAR - National Seed Project (Crops) for the year 2013-14 among 23 centers of State Agricultural Universities and ICAR Institutes of the country during the XXIX Annual group meeting of AICRP-NSP (Crops) held at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir on 24.04.2014 during the XX The trophy, citation, and certificate accompany the award. 
    • The Agri-Business Directorate of TNAU got the Agri-Business Idol Camp Award for innovative ideas during the NAIP innovation conference conducted on May 18-19, 2014 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Government of India. The award includes a cash prize of Rs. 1,000,000/- and a Certificate. 
    • Education Excellence Awards 2014, Brands Academy, New Delhi, Agricultural University of the Year 2014. 
    • The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries in New Delhi bestowed the Overall Excellence Award in 2014. 
    • AGRISNET - Farm Crop Management System, of which TNAU's Crop Doctor and Agri-Tech Portal are components, received a Gold Award for e-Governance in 2014-15. 

    TNAU Recognition 

    TNAU was listed among India's top 50 Universities (under the category UNIVERSITIES) in the NIRF rankings in 2016 (40thrank) and 2017. (17th rank).  TNAU has climbed to 105th in the international QS BRICS University Rankings (2018), with a complete score for 'Faculty staff with Ph.D.' and 'Faculty Student Ratio,' out of 300 leading universities in the region. The University is ranked first among the 67 Agricultural Universities and seventeenth among all educational institutions in the country.

    MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding)

    A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with Sungro Seeds Private Limited for research and development operations in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants. 

    A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with CSIR – CIMAP to deliver quality planting material of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and outreach efforts. 

    TNAU, Coimbatore signed an MoU with Cornell University, USA, for the Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernization Project (TN-IAMP) TNAU, Pune signed an MoU with ICAR Institute for a PG Diploma course on "Production, Quality Control, and Marketing of Medicinal Plants" (For PG Research).  

    AoC ( Agreement of Cooperation)

    An agreement has been finalized with DAI NIPPON in Japan to do research on Gymnema Sylvestre. 

    M/s.India Vetiver Network at TNAU for Vetiver promotion in the country. 

    M/s.Arya Vaidya Pharmacy will collaborate with TNAU on high-demand rare medicinal species. 

    Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam for fruit crop mutation breeding University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago for germplasm interchange
