MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) is the official authority responsible for conducting the NEET AIQ (All India Quota) counselling process. The NEET 2023 counselling registration for Round I has closed. The final seat matrix for round 1 AIQ Seats and deemed universities has been published on the official website. The NEET 2023 Counselling Round I Seat Allotment Result is finally made public on July 30, 2023. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on NEET-UG Counselling 2023

The following FAQs pertaining to NEET-UG counselling will help you get a better understanding of the entire procedure. 

FAQ 1: What are the eligibility requirements to participate in NEET All India Quota Counselling 2023?

Students who have scored equal to or over the minimum cutoff marks (as specified by the conducting authority) in NEET-UG 2023 exam are considered eligible to take part in the NEET 2023 AIQ Counselling. These very students are also eligible for the State-level NEET 2023 Counselling, provided that they meet the state-specific domicile requirements. Under the AIQ, 15 percent of the total seats in the MBBS courses are reserved for central/ AIQ counselling at various colleges across India. The rest of the seats, which is 85%, are filled under the state quota.

FAQ 2: Are there higher chances of getting admission through NEET AIQ Counselling?

Usually, the demand for MBBS seats under the AIQ (All India Quota) is comparatively higher than that of the state-level quota seats. NEET participants with top ranks in the examination compete for MBBS admission under the AIQ counselling. The chances of securing admission purely depend on the candidate's rank in the exam. 

FAQ 3: How many MBBS seats are available across the country? What is the student-to-seats ratio for admissions every year?

At present, there are around 1,08,148 MBBS seats available in Private and Government colleges of India. This year, over 20 lakh students competed for admission in different courses offered through NEET. Judging by the participants-to-seats ratio, it would be fair to say that the competition is pretty high.

FAQ 4: How many colleges can one choose during the option entry/ choice filling process for the NEET counselling process?

While exercising the options during the counselling process, candidates will have the access to a number of options that they are eligible for. They can choose as many options as they want from the list available. 

FAQ 5: Are NEET-UG scores required for only MBBS admissions in India?

Candidates with a valid NEET 2023 score are not only eligible for MBBS admissions in India but also for admission to the BDS, AYUSH (UG) and Veterinary Sciences (UG) courses. In some states or universities, NEET scores are considered for Paramedical (UG) admissions as well.

FAQ 6: What is the reservation policy at AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) for admission to the MBBS course?

AMU reserves 50 per cent of the total MBBS seats to candidates who completed their studies from AMU schools within the last three years. Such students must have a valid NEET score to prove their eligibility during counselling. The rest 50 per cent of seats in the MBBS course at AMU are reserved for non-AMU candidates with a valid NEET score. Candidates from any state are allowed to compete for these seats.

FAQ 7: For the residents of Delhi, how many seats are reserved at Delhi University for admission to the MBBS course?

Total of 85% MBBS seats at Delhi University are reserved for the candidates who have completed their Classes 11 and 12 from a recognised school situated in Delhi, provided that these candidates hold a valid NEET score. 

FAQ 8: How many NEET 2023 counselling rounds will be conducted for Central and Deemed Universities?

MCC NEET counselling 2023 for 15% AIQ seats will be held in four rounds namely, 1st counselling round, 2nd counselling round, mop-up round, and stray-vacancy round. The NEET 2023 counselling details for 85% of state quota seats will be released by the respective state authorities.

FAQ 9: What does it mean by the “Exit with forfeiture in the Round II of counselling”?

In case a candidate does not want to accept the allotted seat during the Round II of the NEET counselling, she/ he may opt for the “Exit with Forfeiture” option. After choosing this option, the candidate can't surrender or resign from the allocated seat that she/ he has joined. The security amount that has been deposited by her/ him will also be forfeited.

FAQ 10: What does it mean by the “Free Exit for 1st Round”?

Through the "Free Exit for Ist Round" option, if one is unable to join or report at the allotted college then she/ he will be eligible to participate in the next rounds of counselling. The security deposit of such candidates will also not be forfeited.

FAQ 11:Where can one obtain her/ his PwD certificate?

Candidates can obtain their PwD certificate from any of the following centres:

  • Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research, Kolkata

  • All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (for Locomotor Disability only) Mumbai

  • Grant Government Medical College, J.J. Hospital Compound, Mumbai, Maharashtra

  • Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital, Ansari Nagar, (Ring Road), NewDelhi
  • Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

  • Madras Medical College, Chennai

  • Goa Medical College, Goa
  • Government. Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh  

  • Government. Medical College, Agartala, State disability board, Agartala

  • SMS Medical College, Jaipur Rajasthan

FAQ 13:How much time do candidates usually have to join the allotted college?

Candidates are usually required to join the allocated college within the time period stipulated by the conducting authority. The schedule is intimated by the authority through official counselling dates. The deadline to join the allotted college can be checked online through the official portal of the NEET 2023 AIQ counselling. However,  candidates are advised not to wait until the last date. It must also be noted that if one fails to join the allotted college within the mentioned time period, the seat allocation will be cancelled.

FAQ 14:Who is eligible for the Round II of NEET Counselling?

The following candidates will be eligible for the second round of the counselling procedure:

  • Candidates who were allotted a seat during Round I under the reserved quota but their admission was cancelled due to some discrepancy in their documents

  • Candidates who were not allotted any seats during Round I of counselling

  • Candidates who were allotted a seat during Round I and have also applied for Round II upgradation

  • Candidates who resigned from the seat allotted to them during Round I

  • Candidates who did not join the seat allotted to them in Round I

FAQ 15: How do I retrieve my forgotten password for counselling?

Candidates can retrieve their passwords by choosing the "forgot password" option while logging in to the conducting authority's portal. Their password will be retrieved by answering the security question that they chose during the registration process. If the candidate answered the question correctly and it matches with the answers that she/ he provided during registration, she/ he will be able to change the password.

FAQ 16:Are there any Girls-only medical colleges in India?

There are various Girls-only medical colleges in India. Some of the top examples include Delhi/BPS Government Medical College, Lady Hardinge Medical College, Sri Padmavati Medical College for Women, Tirupati, etc.

FAQ 17:Can I take a printout of my filled choices during Option Entry after the system is locked?

Yes, candidates will be able to take a printout of their filled choices during Option Entry even after the system is locked. 

FAQ 18: Will the official authorities undertake fresh registrations for the NEET 2023 stray vacancy round?

Answer: No, fresh registrations are not accepted for stray vacancy rounds of NEET 2023. DGHS directly sends a list to the Central and Deemed Universities containing the names of the aspirants ten times the vacant seats.

FAQ 19:Under what condition, does the forfeiture of the security deposit take place?

Candidates would have to forfeit the security fee deposit under the following circumstances:

  • If a candidate has provided wrong or fabricated information during the time of registration

  • If a candidate fails to report at the allotted institution after the DGHS second round and a mop-up round of the seat allotment process.

FAQ 20: Is it necessary to upload the documents on the MCC Portal?

As per the official notification by MCC, uploading documents online on the MCC portal is optional. Whereas, it is mandatory for students to report to the allotted college (from July 31, 2023 to August 4, 2023) along with the list of important documents for NEET 2023 counselling. Those who are uploading the documents must upload them on July 30, 2023.
