CEED & UCEED Tie-Breaker Policy 2026
CEED & UCEED tie breaking policy is brought to use when two students achieve the same marks. The tie breaking policy helps determine the merit and includes measures such as scores in the Part B exam, better scores in Section 2 of Part A, etc.
CEED & UCEED Tie-Breaker Policy 2026:
CEED & UCEED Tie-Breaker Policy 2026: Imagine a scenario where you and another candidate receive exactly the same score in the CEED or UCEED examination. How is the final merit determined in such cases? To handle situations like this, IIT Bombay has introduced the CEED & UCEED Tie-Breaker Policy 2026. The institute follows specific criteria to distinguish between candidates with identical scores and ensure a fair, tie-free merit process. If you are getting ready to take the upcoming CEED or UCEED 2026 entrance exams, you must soon be waiting with bated breath for the results. Until then, you must familiarise yourself with the CEED & UCEED tie-breaker policy 2026 by IIT Bombay, because ties often decide the ranks when students score the same marks. The institute has set the tie-breaker policy for both exams as it manages both.
For
UCEED 2026
, if several students have the same rank, priority is given to those who have achieved a higher score in Part B. For
CEED 2026
, only the passed students of Part B are assigned a merit rank. This ranking policy comes into the picture at the counselling time when ranks are finalised. Both exams are categorised into two halves called Part A and Part B, where both portions would be added to contribute to the final score. Knowing the marks distribution of both portions would be necessary, as it serves the merit list directly. UCEED Tie-Breaker Policy 2026
In cases where the total UCEED score of two or more candidates is the same, to determine the rank, there is a tie-breaker policy. This ranking will help candidates get admission into the desired college. Here's how the policy works:
In case the candidate has a higher score in Part B, he/she gets the higher rank.
If the tie persists, then the candidate who has a better score in Section 2 of Part A will be ranked above the other one.
If both the above fail to break the tie, then the candidate who has obtained a better score in Section 1 of Part A will be ranked more superiorly than the other one.
If the above methods also fail and the tie persists, then both candidates shall share the same rank.
Note: The candidates who qualify for the entrance exam will be ranked according to their aggregate scores in Part A and Part B of the UCEED exam.

Those candidates qualifying for Part B shall be considered for the CEED merit list 2026.

The merit list will be prepared to include the scores of part A and part B. Candidates qualified in the drawing exam will be offered seats during the counselling process for CEED 2026.
