What is Civil Engineering?

Civil engineering includes planning, designing, constructing, maintaining, and managing infrastructures such as roads, bridges, and tunnels, schools, hospitals, airports, and other buildings, sewage systems, and water treatment facilities. Civil engineering is taught at many colleges in India at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, resulting in BTech and MTech degrees. If a student wishes to pursue a career in Civil Engineering, he or she must first complete an undergraduate engineering degree (BTech), following which they or can pursue a job or a postgraduate study in the same field.

After finishing their 12th grade, candidates can apply for admission to the B. Tech civil engineering programme. Civil engineering admission is done through entrance examinations like JEE Main, TS POLYCET, BITSAT, WBJEE, MHT CET, JEE Advanced, and so on, and certain institutes also provide direct admission based on merit. You can pursue a profession in civil engineering, CAD technician, consulting civil engineer, or contracting civil engineer after completing the civil engineering course.
