How to Add a Second Paper in GATE 2026 Application Form?
You can add GATE second paper in online mode at the time of application form correction/ editing. We have provided the step-by-step instructions to add a second paper in the GATE application form 2026.
Firstly, you will have to log in to the GOAPS portal at gate2026.iitg.ac.in using your enrollment ID and password.
Secondly, you will have to go to the section related to GATE application status. You will find the ‘Edit paper’ or ‘Add paper’ option on the page.
Now, from the given list of two-paper combinations, you must select your preferred secondary subject paper.
Next, you must pay the additional fee amount for selecting a second paper in GATE.
Finally, you will need to submit the revised GATE 2026 application form. We advise that you save a copy of the transaction receipt for future reference.

When to Add GATE Second Paper 2026?
IIT Guwahati will allow addition of GATE second paper during the GATE application form 2026 correction period, tentatively in the month of October-November. Important Instructions before Adding GATE Second Paper 2026
You must take note of the following before adding a second paper in GATE 2026.
You are only allowed to add a second paper during the GATE 2026 application form correction window. No further opportunities will be given for paper addition.
You must only choose the second paper from the valid list of GATE two-paper combinations listed by IIT Guwahati.
Additional charges as mentioned above will be applicable for adding a second paper in GATE 2026.
The exam centre for the GATE second paper may not be the same as allotted for the first paper. So, you will need to make travel arrangements accordingly.
Adding a second GATE paper is optional. There’s no hard and fast rule for taking a secondary paper in the examination. In that case, you need not choose another paper or add any additional charges. You can simply focus on the preparation of your primary subject paper.
