GATE 2026 Exam Dates

GATE 2026 exam dates have been declared by IIT Guwahati. As per the official website, GATE exam 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. Like every year, the examination will be held in two shifts. The forenoon session (FN) will be conducted for select papers from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and the afternoon session (AN) will be held for remaining papers from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. If you are one of the aspirants this year, you must be aware of the important dates related to GATE exam events.

IIT Guwahati has postponed GATE registration via GOAPS. A revised schedule has been released on the official website. As per the new schedule, GATE 2026 registration will start from August 28, 2025. The GATE registration last date is September 28, 2025, without late fee, and October 9, 2025, with late fee. GATE 2026 Exam Dates Paper Wise

The GATE exam date 2026 paper-wise will be updated soon. You can check out the GATE exam dates 2026 for all 30 papers and exam timings below. The GATE 2026 exam will be held in 2 shifts. The morning session will be held from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and the afternoon session will be from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

GATE 2026 Exam Shift Timings

GATE 2026 Application Form Date

The GATE 2026 application form release date has been postponed. The GATE application form 2026 is now set to be released on August 28, 2025. The registration process will be held in an online mode through the GOAPS portal. GATE 2026 registration process includes multiple steps - form filling, fee payment, document uploading etc. The new deadline for filling up GATE application form is September 28, 2025. However, even if you miss the deadline, you may still be able to submit your GATE application till the extended deadline by paying a late fee. The extended deadline with a late fee for submitting the GATE application form is October 9, 2025.

GATE 2026 Admit Card Release Date

IIT Guwahati is expected to issue the GATE admit card 2026 tentatively in January, a month before the scheduled exam dates. GATE 2026 admit card will be released on the same day for all papers, and can be downloaded directly from the GOAPS portal using the login credentials. The admit card is a crucial document that you need to download, preserve and carry to the test centre on the GATE 2026 exam day. 

GATE 2026 Answer Key Date

GATE 2026 answer key release date has not been officially announced yet. However, going by the yearly trend, you can expect the answer key to be published by the end of February 2026. GATE answer key 2026 will be made available on the official website of IIT Guwahati. Firstly, the authority will release the provisional answer key of GATE 2026, against which objections can be raised within the stipulated period. Following that, GATE final answer key 2026 will be published in March 2026. With the help of the GATE official answer key, you can compare ypur answers in the exam, assess your performance and calculate estimated scores ahead of the result announcement.

GATE 2026 Result Date

GATE result 2026 will be published on March 19, 2026. The authority usually takes 30-45 days to announce the GATE results. Following the result announcement, GATE 2026 scorecard will be made available on the GOAPS portal. The scorecard of GATE 2026 will be valid for three consecutive years. Students who clear the GATE exam 2026 will have their names on the GATE 2026 rank list and shall be eligible for the COAP and CCMT counselling rounds.

GATE 2026 Counselling Date

GATE counselling 2026 will be conducted separately via COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) and CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan) portals. While GATE 2026 COAP counselling will take place from March to July 2026, GATE 2026 CCMT counselling will begin in the month of May and continue till August 2026, like every year. GATE 2026 counselling dates and official schedule for both will be announced shortly after the result announcement. Through COAP counselling, you can get admission to the top IITs and get recruited in PSUs, while through CCMT counselling, you can get a seat in the participating NITs and IIITs.
