The Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test (TS LAWCET) is scheduled to be conducted on June 3, 2024. The entrance exam will be conducted by Osmania University on behalf of the Telangana State Board of Higher Education for admission to various LL.B programmes. TS LAWCET 2024 Exam Pattern

It is of paramount importance for the aspirants of TS LAWCET 2024 to know and understand the TS LAWCET 2024 exam pattern that will allow them to formulate an overall effective preparation strategy to clear the TS LAWCET 2024 exam in one go. Knowing the exam pattern will allow candidates to put more focus on important topics/ subjects that contain more weightage marks wise in the TS LAWCET 2024 examination, and devise better revision plan techniques in order to successfully clear the examination. 

On behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Osmania University will conduct the TS LAWCET 2024 exam. The TS LAWCET 2024 paper will be divided into three sections:

  • Part I: General Knowledge and Mental Ability
  • Part II: Current Affairs
  • Part III: Aptitude for Study of Law

Telangana Law CET has two programs to offer i.e. a three-year LLB and a five-year LLB (BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB, and BSc LLB). The sections of both papers are the same but the difficulty level changes. The section-by-section distribution is listed below:

TS LAWCET 2024 Question Paper and Marking Scheme

Go through the following points to know about TS LAWCET 2024 question paper and marking scheme:

  • TS LAWCET paper contains a total of 120 MCQ-based questions.
  • Each question has four choices out of which candidates are supposed to choose the correct choice
  • Each question carries one mark for every correct answer and there’s no provision for negative marking.
  • There is no mark awarded for unattempted questions.
  • There will be an essay-based question as well that will be descriptive in nature.

TS LAWCET 2024 Qualifying Marks

Candidates preparing for TS LAWCET 2024 must know the minimum qualifying marks to prepare themselves well in advance to get high scores in the exam. To pass the TS LAWCET exam, candidates should have a qualifying percentile of 35 or 42 marks out of 120. On the other hand, candidates from the SC/ ST category do not have to get a minimum score to pass the TS LAWCET entrance exam.

TS LAWCET 2024 Tie-Breaking Criteria

In some instances, it is seen that two or more candidates have secured the same score in the TS LAWCET examination. A tie-breaking criterion persists for such cases, which is as follows: 

  • Part C i.e., Aptitude for the Study of Law, will be taken into account.
  • If the tie persists, marks from Part B, Current Affairs, will be taken into account. 
  • If the tie still exists, aspirants with the same marks will be placed together for ranking reasons, and older age may become the deciding criterion at the time of admission.

TS LAWCET 2024 Syllabus

TS LAWCET does not have an official syllabus. The exam will be divided into three parts and will assess students on a variety of factors. The TS Law entrance exam syllabus lists significant topics from each subject that will be covered in the question paper. The following is the TS LAWCET 2024 syllabus:

Part I: General Knowledge and Mental Ability

There are two subdivisions in this section: general knowledge and mental ability. Fixed knowledge/ facts about various topics/ subjects in the world that have occurred previously are referred to as general knowledge. The general knowledge could be about different places, people or things. Mental Ability questions will contain logical and analytical problems about blood relationships, verbal/nonverbal sequences, linear arrangements, analytical reasoning, and other topics.

Part II: Current Affairs

The Current Affairs section will have questions based on current events and news themes for which the candidates must stay informed on important events and happenings worldwide. To remain updated with current events and important ongoings of the world, TS LAWCET aspirants should regularly read newspapers, magazines, news related to legal judgments, important legal cases and decisions, etc.

Part III: Aptitude for Study of Law

It is one of the most important sections as it contains the maximum number of questions and marks in the question paper and hence the candidates must ensure that they put more focus on this section of the question paper. Candidates appearing for the TS LAWCET exam will be assessed on their basic understanding of India's legal and constitutional concepts.

  • Important Landmarks and Legal Dicta
  • Basic legal concepts and phrases

  • Make time during the day to set aside particular hours for exam preparation.

  • Get the TS LAWCET 2024 mock exams (offline and online) for each subject.
