UNESCO Workshop on Rethinking Masculinities in Community Radio - The workshop titled 'Transforming MENtalities: Engaging Men and Boys through Community Radio' was held from May 19 to 20, 2025, co-organized by UNESCO’s South Asia Regional Office and the University of Hyderabad. The workshop aimed to empower community radio stations to engage men and boys as allies in advancing gender equality. Introducing a New NPTEL Course: The Literature of Climate Crisis - The University of Hyderabad is pleased to announce a new course on the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) platform, titled “The Literature of Climate Crisis,” offered by Prof. Pramod K Nayar, Department of English. This course focuses on multiple literary genres – poetry, fiction, memoirs, graphic novels – from around the world, works that address the environmental crisis since the 1990s. It explores the aesthetics, form, and politics of these texts. The course includes modules on wilderness and the post-natural, extinction and rewilding, multispecies writing, habits and habitation, and environmental justice. The course is designed for Literary Studies scholars and anyone interested in environmental literature and the climate crisis. It contributes significantly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiative of the University of Hyderabad and fulfills one of the mandates of the UNESCO Chair. Prof. Chennupati Jagadish Elected as Fellow of the Royal Society, UK - Prof. Chennupati Jagadish, Institution of Eminence Chair Professor at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS), UK. This prestigious recognition is a testament to Prof. Jagadish’s outstanding contributions to nanotechnology, semiconductor optoelectronics, and science policy. As a renowned expert in his field, Prof. Jagadish has made seminal contributions to the development of new types of LEDs, lasers, and nanodevices for optoelectronic applications. His work has been widely recognized, with over 800 publications and nearly 38,000 citations. Prof. Jagadish is currently Emeritus Professor at the Department of Electronic Materials Engineering at the ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering, Australian National University. He is also the first person of Indian origin to be appointed as President of the Australian Academy of Science. In addition to his academic achievements, Prof. Jagadish and his wife, Dr. Vidya, have contributed to social causes through the Chennupati and Vidya Jagadish endowment fund, which provides students and researchers from developing countries with opportunities to pursue collaborative research at the ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering. As IoE-Chair Professor at UoH, Prof. Jagadish mentors faculty members and students, guiding them in launching research programs in frontier areas of nanotechnology and semiconductors. Prof. B.J. University of Hyderabad Campus Infrastructure and Facilities

The University of Hyderabad campus is spread over 2300 acres of land, and is located at Gachibowli, Hyderabad. It is home to over 16 schools and special centres, classroom complexes, student, professor, and residential staff quarters, a 24-hour healthcare centre, and an administration block. Furthermore, the UoH campus has a sports field for indoor and outdoor games, a gym, an ATM, a library, a mess, and retail facilities. IGM Library

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Library is named after Mrs Indira Gandhi, the late Prime Minister of India. On October 21, 1988, the late Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma, the then Vice President of India, unveiled the library building. There are thousands of books, serials, theses, dissertations, project reports, e-journals, entrance exam papers, and periodicals in the library. Hostels

The campus has 23 hostels that house around 5000 male and female students. University of Hyderabad hostels are located on north and south campuses to allow students to be closer to their study/research departments. Sports 

University of Hyderabad has sports, games, and yoga facilities for the university community to participate in various games, sports, and fitness activities. The university has a cricket pavilion, running track (400 meters), volleyball court, kho-kho, open karate dojo, badminton court, 4000 sq. feet fitness centre, 4000 sq. feet indoor sports hall which has sports like table tennis, caroms, and chess. It also has a well-maintained grass football field, two synthetic tennis courts, a cemented basketball court, a state-of-the-art fitness centre exclusively for women and a yoga centre for yoga practice and teaching. Central Instruments Laboratory (CIL)

The Central Tools Laboratory (CIL) is a central facility equipped with cutting-edge advanced analytical instruments to serve university academics and researchers. It was founded in 1979 and provided SEM, Confocal Microscopy, Spectroscopy (X-Rays, UV-VIS-IR), Spin Resonance Studies, and Vibrating Magnetometer equipment.
