Charles Sturt University has formed partnerships with five higher education institutions in India to boost its global standing. This move is expected to enhance the university's reputation on a global scale.
It has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with its Indian counterparts while covering a wide range of topics that include joint degrees, research collaboration and student exchange programs. The partnerships between them will also focus on professional development besides the exchange of opportunities for academic staff.
The institutions that have signed an agreement with Charles Sturt University include Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (New Delhi and Noida), Yenepoya University and Nitte University (Mangalore), Sandip University (Nashik) and Saintgits Group of Institutions (Kottayam).

Professor Renée Leon, who holds the position of vice-chancellor at the Australian institution, has praised the collaborations as fundamental components of the plan to enhance the college's worldwide reputation, broaden its range of international students, and provide an unparalleled international student experience.
The university commits to increasing the number of international students at its regional campuses in New South Wales and at the same time providing more opportunities for domestic students to study abroad.
Leon commented that through these partnerships, they will be able to broaden the collaboration networks for researchers and create several opportunities for their academic staff to develop their careers and connection.
The pro-vice-chancellor for international affairs of Charles Sturt University, Mike Ferguson visited India in March as a part of Australian education minister Jason Clare’s official delegation.
Clare started talks of mutual recognition of qualifications between Australia and India which would allow Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) to get a stronger foothold in the Indian subcontinent.

Ferguson also highlighted that Charles Sturt has a long-standing commitment to India and the country is one of the major recruiting markets. Recently, several announcements by the two governments have strengthened possibilities.
He concluded by saying that the university looks forward to taking partnerships to the next stage and delivering some meaningful and beneficial outputs to students, staff and communities.
