The Irish students as well as the Ukrainian refugee students in Ireland will get the opportunity to continue their higher education in the Irish universities. This came as a confirmation on the part of the government on March 14 after the higher and further education minister Simon Harris met the Irish Universities Association to discuss the fate of the students in relation to the war conditions in Ukraine.
Around 46 Irish students were enrolled in Ukrainian universities. The majority of them were pursuing medicine or dentistry courses. The higher and further education department has connected with each student to chalk out their further plan of study.They have constituted a committee of the deans of medicine, the medical council, and the department and admissions officers to integrate into 'the relevant program at the right level'.

Harris has affirmed that though the Irish students will be given priority yet the Ukrainian students will be given equal chances to pursue their higher education. A central information point will be created to easily access information and to navigate the Irish higher education system. The students will be inducted into the September intake as the present teaching semester is nearing the end.
The IUA has made it a pre-requisite to have mandatory English training for the Ukrainian students arriving in Ireland. They will be given English training so that they can easily imbibe in Irish society. Employment opportunities will also be provided to those who are taking shelter. Mr Harris will meet the ministers of other European countries to decide the fate of the incoming students.
