80 Telangana Welfare School Students Make it to DU in First List
- As many as 80 students from the Telangana Welfare School have made it to the top Delhi University colleges for the academic session of 2018-19.
- These students have made it to DU on the basis of the first cut off list itself.
Despite poverty and adverse circumstances, 80 students from the Residential Welfare and Tribal Schools in Telangana secured admission in one of the esteemed universities in India, i.e., Delhi University. Moreover, these students cleared the DU first cut-off itself and secured admission in some of the top colleges affiliated to Delhi University. A majority of these students opted for UG courses in anthropology, computer science, political science, chemistry, physics and mathematics.
The 80 students from TSWREIS (Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society) and TTWREIS (Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society) secured admission in some of the following DU colleges: -

Securing admission in the University of Delhi on the basis of first cut-off is not an ordinary task. The cut-offs set by DU colleges range from 95% to 99%. All the 80 students from TSWREIS and TTWREIS scored above 95% in the board exams. Another 14 students are expecting to get admission in the DU second cut-off list.
Compared to the last year, the performance of welfare schools in Telangana has improved significantly as only 12 students made it to DU last time.

The welfare schools are also aiming for 10 admissions in IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and medical courses this year. The state government is happy with the performance of welfare schools and is expecting a significant improvement in the coming years.
