The US has stated its intentions of expanding US visa interview appointments for Indian students by 30% in summer 2023 in an effort to welcome a record number of Indian students to study in the USA.
As noted by Mike Hankey, the US Consul General in Mumbai, the preceding year of 2022 broke all the previous records for the number of Indian students who study in the US in a calendar year with more than 1.25 lakh visa applications issued. In 2023, the US is in a bid to broaden the aforementioned number even further, surpassing all the noted previous records.

Indian students prefer to study in USA due to the availability of a variety of high-quality academic programmes, specialisations, advanced curricula, renowned US universities, multicultural environments, employment prospects, and more.
In the year 2022, the US set an all-new mark for the number of Indian students heading to the US in a single year, over 1.25 lakh, making India the largest student exporter globally. For the year 2023, the country requires more Indian students to get enrolled at its universities.
Planning for the summer 2023 session, USA is willing to increase the number of US visa interview slots for Indian students by nearly 30%. Hankey continued by saying that Indian students are always welcome to study in the United States.
Further, Hankey interacted with representatives from various Indian industries during his stay in Aurangabad and also visited Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University to have fruitful discussions with students. Also, he encouraged pupils to search websites for a curriculum and specialisation that is right for them.

Hankey also met with industrialist and conservationist Mukund Bhogale along with businesspeople from the Indian industry and college students to discuss efforts being made to preserve the Marathwada region's historical past.
He also spoke with a business delegation on the supply of aluminium needed for maintaining the global aerospace and defence supply chain.
