How is MHT CET 2026 Percentile Calculated? (Normalization Explained)

The Normalization Process in MHT CET provides students who are taking easier shifts or more challenging shifts to be assessed on the same playing field. The percentile calculated by Maharashtra State CET Cell is as follows: 100(number of candidates with normalised marks 100)/total number of candidates taking the exam.

This is because your percentile is based on your relative performance in your particular exam session rather than your marks. A percentile score indicates relative achievement by moving raw marks on a scale of 0 to 100 per session with 100 indicating the maximum score in that session.

To prevent ties, percentile scores are generated to up to 7 decimal points. This accuracy directly affects the merit list ranking in CAP rounds, where two candidates can be competing over the same seat and that a difference of even a fourth decimal point can make the difference.

Also, the total MHT CET percentile is not computed as an average or a sum of the percentile of the single subjects. The percentile of each subject, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, is given separately, and the overall percentile is calculated without combining the raw scores.
