Andaman and Nicobar NEET Domicile Rules

To gain admission to NEET 2024 state quota seats in Andaman and Nicobar, students must be in the domicile of the Union Territory.

NEET 2024 Domicile Rules for Andhra Pradesh

Applicants must note that admission to MBBS and BDS seats through the NEET 2024 exam is divided into 2 categories - Local and Non local candidates. As per the Andhra Pradesh NEET Domicile Criteria, admission of local candidates is managed by the Andhra University (AU), while Sri Ventaswara University (SVU) manages non local candidate admissions. The local candidates of Andhra Pradesh are eligible for both 15% and unreserved and 85% reserved seats while the non local candidates are entitled to 15% unreserved seats.

Andhra Pradesh Local Area Candidates

AP Domicile criteria for NEET 2024

  • If any candidate has studied in any school or college in the local areas for at least 4 consecutive years

  • If a candidate has resided in the local area for a minimum of  4 consecutive years

Candidates who do not meet the above-mentioned criteria but have studied in any specific local area for more than 7 years, will be considered as local candidates as per the following guidelines.

  • Students need to complete at least 7 consecutive academic years in the above-mentioned local districts

  • In case they have not studied in any schools/colleges, they will still be considered as local candidates as per the Andhra Pradesh NEET 2024 Domicile criteria if they have resided in one for 7 consecutive years

Andhra Pradesh NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria for 15% Unreserved Seats

  • Candidates who have resided in AP for more than 10 years, excluding their academic period outside the state

  • The spouse of the applicant is employed with either the Central or state government

  • Candidate must have resided in Goa for a minimum of 10 years

  • Students whose parents or grandparents are born in Goa, need to prove their residence in the state for at least 5 consecutive years

Gujarat Domicile Criteria for NEET 2024

  • Students need to pass higher secondary from an institution recognized by the state board and affiliated with CBSE, ISB, NIOS, CISCE, or the state government board

  • Students need to finish their Class 12 from one or more schools that are established within the state and affiliated with the state or Central government.

  • Candidate must be residing within the state for a minimum of 7 consecutive years

  • Candidate have studied at any school within the state and their parent/s have resided in the state for at least 7 years

  • The mother tongue of the candidate and parent/s must be Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava. While the parent/s, in this case, must be a permanent resident of the state, students who have completed their 10+2 from any school in Karnataka and residing outside Karnataka as of May 11 of the applying year

  • Candidates who have resided in the disputed Kannada speaking regions for at least 7 years and are native speakers of Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava, need to pass the Kannada Language Test

  • Children of parents who have migrated from Jammu and Kashmir

  • Children of MPs selected by the state people and passed 10+2 from any school in India

  • Children completing their 11 and 12 from any recognized school of Karnataka and whose parents are  Defense Personnel serving for at least 1 year

Maharashtra State Candidature Type A

  • Candidate must produce a birth certificate mentioning the place of birth in Maharashtra

  • Candidate must be a resident of Maharashtra for a minimum of 10 years

  • Applicant must have completed their 10+2 from any recognized institution within Maharashtra

Maharashtra State Candidature Type B

  • Either of the parents of the applying student must hold a domicile certificate of Maharashtra

  • Applicant need to finish their Classes 11 and 12 from any school in the state

Maharashtra State Candidature Type C

  • Parent/s of the candidate must be a government employee or government undertaking institution posted within the state of Maharashtra

  • Applicant need to clear their higher secondary board exam from any school recognized by the education board of Maharashtra

Maharashtra State Candidature Type D

  • Either of the parents of the candidates must be a Central government employee but posted within Maharashtra

Maharashtra State Candidature Type E

  • Applicant need to complete their higher secondary from any school recognized by Maharashtra-Karnataka Board

  • The minimum aggregate marks must be 50%

  • The native language of the applying students must be Maratha

NEET Domicile Criteria for Kerala

The admission to MBBS and BDS courses is done following the Kerala NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria as specified in the points below.

  • Keralite Category

Students originating in Kerala or ward of any All India Service Officers who are posted in Kerala are eligible to apply for the Communal/ Special Reservations.

  • Non- Keralite Category I (NK-I)

Candidates meeting certain criteria will be considered for free concession under the NK-I category of NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria in Kerala. Those criteria are as follows.

  1. Must study any qualifying course from any recognized school in Kerala and parent/s should be employed with the Central Government and posted within the state

  2. Candidates need to complete their 10+2 from schools established in the state and either of their parents must be an employee of the state government for a minimum of 2 years

  • Non-Keralite Category II (NK- II)

All the candidates who do not meet the criteria stated under NK-I will be considered under the NK-II category for NEET 2024 Domicile Rules for Kerala. These students will be eligible for medical seats under the open seat category.

The permanent residents of Punjab are entitled to 85% of state quota seats for NEET UG 2024 admission in the state. However, there are some exceptions according to the Punjab NEET domicile rules that are listed below.

  • If either of the parents of the applicants were an employee of the Central government, Punjab government, or serving in the All India Services, but have passed away

  • Children of Punjab government employees who have served for at least 2 years (some time outside the state while in service) but have now passed away

Puducherry NEET Domicile Criteria 2024

As per the NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria for Puducherry, the candidate must be a citizen of India and meet any one of the following criteria.

  • Either the parents or both must be a resident of the Union Territory for at least 5 consecutive years

  • Applicants who have passed SSCL/HSC or any other public examinations while staying in the state for academic purposes for at least 5 years

  • Applicants have studied in any educational institution within Puducherry for a minimum of 5 years

  • The candidate who has their land or home in the Union Territory which is declared by the Heads of Office. Nativity Certificate

  • Candidates whose parent/s are employed with the state or Central government for at least 3 years

  • Ward of personnel serving in Defence/Army or any other civil services of the state or Central government for at least 3 years

NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria for Rajasthan

The MBBS or BDS degree programmes in Rajasthan will be done for 85% of the state seat quota. Applicants must meet any one of the following Rajasthan NEET Domicile Rules mentioned below.

  • Applicant must be a certified permanent resident of Rajasthan

  • Applicants must have studied from Class 8 to 12 in the state and their parents must be a domicile holder of Rajasthan

  • Either or both parents of the applicants must be former employees of the Government of Rajasthan and have served 3 years before the year of application

  • The candidate whose parents are serving or have retired from the para military, defense, or other civil post of the state or Central government even if they have been posted outside the state.

  • Candidate whose parents are serving in the defense sector of the government and posted within Rajasthan

  • Children of judges serving in the state

Tamil Nadu NEET Domicile Rules 2024

To become eligible for NEET 2024 admission in Tamil Nadu, candidates need to meet any one of the following NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria mentioned below.

  • Candidates who have completed have studied Class 6 to 12 from any school in the state, need to submit their Nativity Certificate. If the parents are not literate, candidates must upload an SSLC/ 10/ 12 Certificate, No Graduate Certificate, Birth Certificate, and  Ration Card of parents.

  • Applicants who have completed their studies from Class 6 to 12 completely or partially outside the state need to submit their parents’ SSLC/ 10/ 12 Certificate, No Graduate Certificate, Birth Certificate, and  Ration Card.

  • The candidate must be a certified resident of Tamil Nadu

  • NRI and Overseas Indian Citizens are eligible to apply for NEET 2024 admission in Tamil Nadu through management quota.

  • Applicants need to submit a declaration stating they are not residents of other states

  • Candidates who are residing in Tamil Nadu for academic purposes will be eligible for admission through open quota seats only

NEET Domicile Rules for Telangana

The Telangana NEET 2024 Admission is divided into 2 categories - local and non local candidates. A total of 7 local and 5 non local areas are there in the state. Osmania University (OU), Andhra University (AU), and Sri Ventaswara University (SVU) areas manage the local admission status.   • Applicant should be a resident of the state for a minimum period of 4 years

Telangana NEET Domicile Rules for Non Local Candidates

  • Non local candidates will be eligible for 15% of unreserved category seats 

  • The applicant must have resided in the state for academic or other purpose for at least 7 consecutive years

  • Candidate must have studied in any school established within any of the local areas for at least 7 years

  • In case the applicant did not study in any local area, they need to be a resident of local area for a minimum of 7 years

The following categories can apply for the 15% unreserved seats:

  • Applicants have resided in Telangana for at least 10 years, excluding the time they have resided outside the state for academic purposes

  • Parent/s of the applicant have resided in the local area for 10 consecutive years, excluding their years of employment outside the state

  • Applicants whose spouse is serving as an employee with the Public Corporations, Central, state, or government undertaking institutions within Telangana

Tripura NEET Domicile Criteria 2024

Candidates seeking NEET 2024 admission, need to fall under any one of the five clauses under the Tripura NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria mentioned below.

  • Clause 1: The applicant must be a permanent resident of Tripura. The parents of the applicant must have resided in Tripura for at least 10 years consecutively.

  • Clause 2: Applicant whose parents are posted with the All India Services outside of Tripura. Candidates whose parent/s are employed with the state government of Tripura are also eligible for admission

  • Clause 3: Candidates who are not a permanent resident of Tripura but whose parents are employed with the state government of Tripura for at least 3 years 

  • Clause 4: Applicants who have passed Class XII from any school established in Tripura. Their parent/s or grandparent/s must have served the state government for a minimum of 5 years

  • Clause 5: Children of Army or Defense personnel who have been posted in Tripura for a minimum period of 5 years are also eligible to apply for NEET 2024 Admission.​​​​​​​

Uttarakhand NEET Domicile Criteria 2024

To take MBBS and BDS admission, students must meet any one of the following NEET Domicile Criteria 2024.

  • Applicant must be a native of Uttarakhand and their father must be a permanent resident of the state.

  • Either or both parents of the applicant have stayed in Uttarakhand for at least 3 years

  • Both or any one of the parents of the candidate is employed with the state or Central  government

  • The applicant will be exempted from producing a domicile certificate if he/she has finished their Classes X and XII from any school in Uttarakhand

  • Applicants need to produce a domicile certificate of they have passed either Class X or XII from any recognized school in Uttarakhand

NEET Domicile Rules for West Bengal

The West Bengal NEET 2024 Domicile Criteria are divided based on proformas. Students need to be permanent residents of the state and fill their respective proformas available on wbmcc.nic.in. The domicile certificate available from the West Bengal e-district portal is also accepted. All the submitted domicile certificates must be signed by the respective authorities as mentioned in wbhealth.gov.in.
