UPSEE B.Des Syllabus: The Uttar Pradesh Combined Entrance Test (UPCET), previously known as UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam), is a state-level test for admission to colleges affiliated with AKTU. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Students must note that UPCET or UPSEE has been replaced by CUET for 2024 admissions. However, some universities may still use it for their own admission process. Conducted annually, this exam facilitates entry into professional programs like B.Des, B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Pharm for students from Uttar Pradesh and other states.

In 2023, the UPSEE B.Des exam took place from May 21 to May 31. While AKTU has not announced official dates for 2024, based on the previous year, the exam for 2024 is expected to run from May 15 to May 31. Notably, AKTU, along with affiliated colleges and other state universities in Uttar Pradesh, now accepts scores from exams like JEE Main/CUET exam.

Students with valid scores from these exams can participate in UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling). The UPSEE B.Des syllabus comprises five sections with all objective-type questions. To prepare for this exam, students should familiarize themselves with the syllabus structure, select appropriate books, solve sample papers, and review previous years’ UPSEE questions and answers. FAQs

What is the passing score for the UPSEE B.Des entrance exam?

The UPSEE B.Des exam does not have a set passing score. It is more about meeting a minimum requirement. If you scored higher than the minimum percentile, which is roughly around 25% for General Category students, you could move forward to the counselling stage. However, admission is based on your rank and the specific cut-off marks set by each university.

How much time is allotted for the UPSEE B.Des entrance exam?

The UPCET B.Des exam, which has now been replaced by CUET in many universities, used to have a duration of 2 hours for completion. This time limit probably still stands for universities that continue to accept UPSEE scores for B.Des admissions in UP.

What are some resources to help me prepare for the UPSEE B.Des syllabus?

Here are some useful materials to get ready for the B.Des entrance exam, which might be outdated for UPSEE:
- Check the official syllabus provided by the university that administers the exam. Also, look for any past papers if they're accessible.
- Practice with mock tests and sample papers. You can find these from coaching centres or online platforms.
- Use reference books covering design basics, drawing techniques, general knowledge, and quantitative aptitude.
- Explore online tutorials and video lectures specifically geared towards B.Des entrance exam subjects.

What is the weightage for each section of the UPSEE B.Des syllabus?

The weightage for each section of the UPSEE B.Des syllabus is no longer applicable as CUET is the current entrance exam. CUET exams don't follow the same structure or weightage scheme as UPCET.

Is there any negative marking in UPSEE 2024?

UPCET has been replaced by CUET for 2024 admissions. CUET exams do have negative marking, with 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

What should I refer to apart from Books for UPCET B.Des?

Apart from books students can refer to sample papers and previous year question papers for UPCET B.Des.

Is UPCET only for UP students?

No, students who are residents of UP and national students who fit all the eligibility criteria are eligible for the UPCET exam.

Are the UPCET and UPSEE the same?

Yes, the UPCET and UPSEE are the same entrance exams. UPCET was earlier known as UPSEE or Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination.

When will the UPSEE B.Des application form 2024 released?

The UPSEE B.Des application form 2024 may be released tentatively in the first week of February 2024.
