CLAT 2025 Seat Allotment

The CLAT 2025 seat allotment is a part of the CLAT counselling process. The candidates whose names appear on the seat allotment list will get to exercise 3 options. The aspirants can either accept the assigned seats, request an upgrade for their seat or withdraw their name from the seat allotment process. To understand how the CLAT seat allotment process works, read the below options to get a better idea:

Freeze Option: The students will be allocated seats during the counselling round if they are eligible. If the candidate is satisfied with their seat allotment, they can choose the “Freeze” option. By choosing this option, the aspirant indicates that they are confirming their allocation to the respective National Law University. Once you choose Freeze, you cannot participate in the next rounds of the CLAT counselling process. A candidate who selects the Freeze option in the First or Second round of counselling needs to pay the remaining University Fee to the NLU concerned by the deadline after correcting the Counselling Registration Fee and Confirmation Fee. To 'Freeze' their place in the Third, Fourth, or Fifth round of counselling, they must deposit the university charges to the NLU as mentioned in the admissions counselling calendar.

Float Option: The “Float” option can be exercised by the candidates who are not satisfied with their seat allocation. These candidates can participate in the next rounds of the counselling rounds where they will get the flexibility to choose their seat in one of the National Law Universities (NLUs) or can choose to upgrade their seat. You can use this option in the first or second stage of counselling by paying a confirmation fee within the deadline. To use the Float option in the Third or Fourth round of counselling, the applicant has to pay the NLU the university fee for the seat granted to them in that round of counselling within the time frame specified. The 'Float' option will be removed after the fourth stage of counselling, and the last given seat will be regarded as final. Candidates will then have to select whether to "Freeze" or "Exit" the counselling process.

Exit Option: The law students who are not satisfied with their allocated seats even after upgrade can choose to “Exit” the CLAT seat allotment round. By selecting the Exit option, the candidates are declining the seats allotted to them and will not be eligible for further rounds of the CLAT counselling process.

CLAT 2025 Seat Allotment Guidelines

To participate in the CLAT 2025 seat allotment round, students need to follow some guidelines that have been mentioned below:

  • The allotment list will be published on the official website of the Consortium of the NLUs.
  • The provisionally selected ST category candidates can take part in the CLAT 2025 counselling process.
  • The names of the candidates who will not pay the confirmation fee will be removed from the CLAT 2025 merit list.
  • The aspirants must reserve their seats during the counselling process by paying the counselling fee.
  • The seat allotment list includes the Student's Name, Admit Card Number, All India Rank (AIR) and their category.
  • To check the NLU that has been assigned to the candidate, students can visit the official website of the Consortium.
