MBA Admissions in Punjab 2025 was started by UBS Business School, Punjab University, on December 4, 2024. The last date for registration to UBS was February 3, 2025. Admission to UBS is conducted on the basis of percentage in the UG degree, CAT 2024 scores, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview. The university does not administer any entrance exam to provide MBA admission to prospective candidates. CMAT and MAT scores are widely accepted by numerous management colleges in Punjab. If you possess valid scores from these exams, you can gain admission to both government and private MBA colleges throughout the state. Admissions through CMAT began after the CMAT results 2025 were released on February 13, 2025. The programmes offered by MBA colleges in Punjab include Master of Business Administration, MBA in Entrepreneurship, MBA in International Business, and MBA in Human Resources.

For admissions to Panjab University’s Institute of Advanced Management Sciences, the PU MET exam score is required for MBA courses in India. Certain deemed private universities in Punjab such as Chandigarh University and Lovely Professional University are also popular for their management courses. Entrance Exams Accepted by Punjab MBA Colleges

If you have valid scores in CMAT and MAT exams, you can get admission to government and private MBA colleges across the state. Deemed universities conduct separate entrance exams for admission to management courses only for those students who do not have a valid MAT/ CAT/ CMAT score. For admissions to Panjab University’s Institute of Advanced Management Sciences accept the PU MET 2025 exam score for MBA courses. The list of entrance exams applicable for MBA admissions in Punjab is listed below.

• PU MET (Panjab University Management Entrance Test): It is conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh in Offline (Pen & Paper-based) mode over a duration of 2 hours. 200 questions will be asked from General Knowledge, Economics & Business Environment Awareness, Data Interpretation & Problem-Solving, Numerical Ability, Verbal Ability / Reasoning, and English Comprehension. Selection through PU MET involves PU MET Score (85% weightage), Group Discussion (GD) (7.5% weightage), and Personal Interview (PI) (7.5% weightage).
• CUSAT (Chandigarh University Scholarship Aptitude Test):
• LPU NEST (MBA) – National Entrance and Scholarship Test
• Common Management Admission Test (CMAT)
• Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)

Eligibility Criteria for MBA Admissions in Punjab 2025

The following are the eligibility criteria for MBA Admissions in Punjab 2025:

• Basic Requirements:

(a) For MBA admissions in Punjab, the minimum qualification required is a Bachelor’s degree in any stream. You must have at least 50% of marks or aggregate percentage in Bachelor’s degree to be considered for admission to Punjab MBA colleges.
(b) If you possess a bachelor’s degree in Modern Indian Languages (Hindi/ Urdu/ Punjabi [Gurmukhi Script]) and/or in a Classical Language (Persian/ Sanskrit/ Arabic), you must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in all the papers of language excluding the optional paper, English and any other elective subject.
OR
(c) You must pass the final examination conducted by the (a) Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England, or or (b) Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India or England, or (c) Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

• Entrance Exam: If you are aspiring to get admission to Lovely Professional University and Chandigarh University, you must have a valid MAT/ CMAT score. If you do not have a valid CMAT/ MAT score, you must apply for LPU NEST for LPU or CUSAT for Chandigarh University. Panjab University conducts LPU MET for PG management courses. The rest of the MBA colleges in Punjab either accept CMAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CAT scores.
• Domicile Rules: If you are aspiring to get admission to government management colleges in Punjab, you must belong to Punjab state. However, there are no domicile rules for deemed universities and private MBA colleges.

Punjab MBA Selection Process

PU MET 2025 Selection Process: PU MET 2025 selection process for the MBA course is based on Written Exam, i.e., PU MET (85% weightage), Group Discussion (7.5% Weightage), and Personal Interview (7.5% Weightage). The results of PU MET 2025 are announced after the Personal Interview and Group Discussion.

Selection Process based on Other Entrance Exams: Most colleges offer MBA admission to students based on MAT/ CMAT scores. Only some colleges may conduct GD and PI for MBA admissions. Compared to other states, the MBA admission process in Punjab is simple. These colleges reserve seats for CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ XAT candidates under the state quota and only Punjab residents are allowed to take admission under this quota.

Direct MBA Admission/ Management Quota Admission: Candidates without a valid score in any of the above-mentioned management entrance exams could take direct admission or management quota admission. However, the fee charged under management quota admissions is higher than state quota fees.

Note: IIM Amritsar accepts only the CAT score for PG management admissions. The final selection is based on the CAT score, GD, and PI.

Punjab MBA Admission Reservation Policy

Reserved category candidates and women students will have a reservation in MBA seats that come under the state quota. Panjab University strictly follows the reservation policy for MBA admissions. Private colleges are free to fill the seats under management quota and reservation policies do not apply for such admissions.
