What's New in DU Admission 2021?

With an unprecedented situation prevailing around the globe, the admission systems across the nation are changing. To keep up with that and to tackle this situation smartly and efficiently, Delhi University has brought about a number of changes for the DU admission process this year. Some of the major changes are listed below in detail. Read on.

High Scorers Up, DU Admissions 2021 May Get Tougher

CBSE Class 12 Result 2021 have been announced on 30th July 2021 and along with the result, the questions around DU 2021 Admissions have also started coming up. As per the official data, over 70,000 students scored 95%+ marks in the CBSE Class 12 board exams. This may lead to a slight increase in the DU cut off. Students can witness an increase in the DU Cutoff 2021 for admission to UG courses. The number of DU applications this year as students from other states may prefer to study local due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Expected Changes in DU 2021 Cut-off Marks

A huge number of students apply to Delhi University colleges every year. Students look forward to the release of cut-off scores which leads to DU admissions. This year, under unprecedented circumstances, students are expecting some changes in the cut-off percentage of DU colleges. The first DU cut-off list of 2021 will be releasing in the first week of September. So, it is too soon to say what might happen. But considering the fact that the university did bring about a lot of changes in the admission process this year, expecting that the admission authorities will make some changes is worth a shot.

No Marks Deduction on Changing Streams

Earlier, Delhi University had a policy of deducing 5 per cent marks from the total scores of a student if she/ he changes their streams for the admissions to BA (Bachelor of Arts) course. In her official statement, Shobha Bagai, The Dean of Admissions, Delhi University said that this policy was put into action because Science students were believed to score more than Humanities students and that if there’s no deduction, they might end up taking a major chunk of BA programme seats which are meant for Humanities students. But, she then added that the studies are going interdisciplinary and that they will ensure that the entire admission process goes smoothly.

So, this year, if a Science student wants to apply for a BA programme, she or he will not have to lose 5 per cent of the total aggregate scores.

No ECA Trials for DU Admission 2021

This year, just like last year, students applying to Delhi University under ECA category will not be participating in trials. Instead, students aspiring for Music courses admissions will have to upload their videos or portfolio to be reviewed by the panel.

Students from the sports quota will be selected for UG courses based on certificates and exams. This may bring changes for the students in terms of cut-off scores. Check all the information about Delhi University ECA Admissions 2021 here.

Single Application Form for All Colleges

Last year, the varsity introduced a single application form for all DU colleges. Earlier, students had to apply separately for some of the Delhi University colleges, but now, the admissions are conducted for all the colleges through a single application form. Students are given the chance to fill their top five choices. These choices will then be considered at the time of college allocation. This means that now students do not have to limit their choices by picking a particular college or course.

What to Expect from DU Admissions 2021?

Students may be expecting leniency from the admissions board of Delhi University in terms of cut-off scores but, the professors are saying otherwise. Now whether students come across any changes in the same or not, only time will tell. Until then, you can fill out the Common Application Form (CAF) to get admission to the top Commerce and Arts colleges in India with the help of expert guidance. Get ready to study at the college of your choice with CollegeDekho.
