Maharashtra Law Admission 2023

The law admission process in Maharashtra is conducted either through MH CET Law, CLAT or LSAT India. Maharashtra is the third largest state in India and is also one of the major educational hubs for higher education. The state has quite a large number of colleges and universities which impart law education to aspiring law students. 

MH CET Law is conducted by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra at various law colleges in Maharashtra. The exam dates for the 3-year and 5-year LL.B entrance examinations have been released by the exam authorities. The 3-year LL.B exam will be conducted on May 2 and 3, 2023 and the 5-year LL.B examination is scheduled for April 20, 2023. The registration process for the entrance examination is going on and candidates who want to apply for the 5-year LL.B have to submit the MH CET Law 2023 application form by March 23, 2023 and those who will be appearing for the 3-year LL.B should complete the registration by March 25, 2023. 

CLAT and LSAT are the other two entrance examinations through which Maharashtra law admission 2023 will be conducted. CLAT 2023 has already been conducted and LSAT India 2023 for the May cycle will be held from June 8 to 11, 2023. Maharashtra Law Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Students should be aware of the Maharashtra Law Admission 2023 eligibility criteria before applying for the examination. The usual eligibility criteria for Maharashtra Law Admission are as follows:

UG Level: Candidates will have to qualify in class 10+2 from a recognised institute in order to appear for the entrance exam. Candidates will have to score at least 55% in the last qualifying examination. The Open category candidates (candidates who have finished the above education from an institution outside Maharashtra state) should have an aggregate score of at least 45%. SC/ST candidates and the candidates who belong to the state of Maharashtra must have an aggregate score of 40% at the undergraduate (10+2+3) or postgraduate (10+2+3+2/3) level of education.

PG Level: All the candidates applying for LLM must hold an LLB degree from a recognised Institute of Bar Council of India. The applicant must score 55% marks in the qualifying examination. 5% relaxation is given to the reserved category (SC/ST/PwD) which means that the candidates belonging to the reserved category must score 50% in the examination. 

Maharashtra Law Admission 2023 Application Process

Candidates can follow the steps mentioned below to fill out the Maharashtra Law Admission 2023 application form in an online format.

Registration on the official website: The following steps must be followed by candidates for the Maharashtra Law 2023 registration on the official website.

  • Visit the authorized website for the entrance exam.
  • Select the link for "New Registration."
  • After reading the instructions, click the link to access the registration form.
  • Fill out the registration form with your full name, father's name, mother's name, gender, birth date, religion, area, mother language, annual family income, and nationality.
  • Enter your home and communication address information like state, district, taluka, village, pin code, etc.
  • Save the information you provided when registering, then finish the OTP verification.
  • The candidates will receive an "Application Number" after OTP verification, which they can use to log in and complete the application.

Fill out the Application Form: Candidates are required to follow the steps mentioned below to fill out the application form via online mode.

  • Candidates are required to log in using their set password and prescribed application number.
  • Choose the type of candidature and the reservation information. Candidates can review their candidature information on the CET Cell prospectus.
  • Type your education information, including your class rank and your grade point average (for 3-year LLB)
  • Choose three exam venues, ranking them in order of preference.
  • Upload your photo and signature using the format specified.
  • Upload the relevant documents for proof of identity.

Cross-check and validate the information provided in the online application form: Before moving on to the final submission, candidates must confirm the information they have supplied after filling out all the fields. Candidates should revise their application forms if any changes are needed. Candidates should move through with paying the prescribed application fee if all the information is accurate.

Fee Payment: Once the application is complete, candidates can pay the registration fee for the MH CET Law 2023 exam in online mode. Candidates have three alternatives for paying their application fees: debit card/ credit card, net banking, or UPI.

Take a print of the application form: Candidates should print out their completed application form after submitting it and save their application number and password for future reference.

Maharashtra Law Admission 2023 Selection Process 

The selection process of Maharashtra Law Admission varies from college to college. Most of the law colleges in Maharashtra accept the law entrance exams for admission. An individual needs to make sure to prepare for the law exam and qualify for it successfully. 

Once the aforementioned step is fulfilled, candidates will be invited for the counselling process and the final shortlisting would be done based on the score/ rank obtained by the candidate in the merit list along with crucial factors like college preference, seat availability, fee payment, etc.

The admission to other law colleges in the state of Maharashtra is also done on the merit basis. Candidate's aggregate scores from the qualifying exam is taken into consideration for the preparation of the merit list according to which the admission is granted after a GD/ PI (optional).
