NSUT B.Des Eligibility Criteria 2026

To be eligible for NSUT B.Des admission 2026, candidates must have passed Class 12 (10+2 pattern) from any recognised Central or State Board with the following minimum marks:

Note: Candidates placed in compartment in Class 12 are not eligible. Final-year Class 12 students awaiting results may apply but must meet eligibility criteria before the counselling date.

NSUT B.Des Selection Criteria 2026

NSUT B.Des admission is entirely merit-based on entrance examination rank. There is no separate NSUT design entrance test. Seats are filled for B.Des admissions at NSUT in the following priority order:

Note: Only General/Open/All-India ranks are accepted; category ranks are not considered.

Tie-breaking rules: If two candidates share the same entrance rank, Class 12 marks (best four subjects: Language + three others) are compared. If still tied, the older candidate is ranked higher.

For institutes that conduct a preliminary exam followed by a final exam, only the preliminary exam score is considered.

How to Apply for NSUT B.Des Admission 2026?

The step-by-step process to apply for B.Des at NSUT is given below: 

  1. Appear for UCEED 2026 or any national/state-level design entrance exam accepted by NSUT.
  2. Visit nsutadm.samarth.edu.in and click on New Registration.
  3. Fill the online application form with personal and academic details.
  4. Upload required documents: ID proof, Class 12 marksheet, entrance exam rank card, and category certificates (if applicable)
  5. Submit the registration form before the last date.
  6. Check your login account on the NSUT portal for merit list updates and Provisional Allotment Letter.
  7. Report to NSUT on your allotted counselling date with all original documents and self-attested photocopies.
  8. Pay the admission fee and collect the Provisional Admission Letter.

Carry originals and self-attested photocopies (both hard copy and soft copy) of the following at the time of document verification:

  • Valid Admit Card and Rank Card of the entrance examination
  • Class 12 (or equivalent) marksheet

NSUT offers a total of 60 seats in the B.Des programme, with 51 seats reserved for Delhi Region candidates and 9 seats for Outside Delhi Region candidates. Among all categories, the General category has the highest seat intake with 24 seats, followed by OBC-NCL with 16 seats.

85% of seats are reserved for Delhi Region candidates (those who passed Class 12 from a school/college in the NCT of Delhi). 15% are for Outside Delhi Region candidates. Region is determined by the location of the school/institute, not the candidate's home address.

NSUT B.Des Reservation Policy 2026

NSUT follows the reservation policy prescribed by the Government of India for B.Des admissions. The university reserves 27% seats for OBC-NCL candidates, 15% for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates, and 10% for EWS candidates, while 5% horizontal reservation is provided for Defence (CW) and Persons with Disabilities (PD) candidates within each category.

If sufficient eligible candidates from reserved categories are not available, vacant seats are treated as unreserved. Conversion of seats between Delhi and Outside Delhi regions is carried out during Spot Rounds.

NSUT B.Des Counselling Process 2026

NSUT B.Des counselling is conducted in three regular rounds plus spot rounds, entirely at the NSUT Dwarka campus.

  • Round 1 to Round 3: Based on entrance exam rank and registration, NSUT publishes a merit list. Candidates provisionally allotted a seat must report for document verification on their scheduled date. Provisional Admission Letters are issued after successful verification and fee payment.
  • Spot Rounds: Any seats remaining vacant after Round 3 are filled through spot rounds. Further spot rounds may be conducted subject to seat availability.
  • Seat upgrade: Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 or 2 may be considered for a higher-preference seat in subsequent rounds if seats become available.
