The Faculty of Engineering & Technology hosted a day-long celebration featuring thought-provoking addresses, panel discussions, and competitive events, bringing together academicians, industry leaders, and aspiring engineers.
Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Prasad, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, CU-UP, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the day. The highlight of the day was a panel discussion on “Engineering India’s Future: AI and Innovation for Nation Building”, featuring Dr. Puneet Misra, Head CSE, University of Lucknow, Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Technology Head, AI and Cloud, TATA Consultancy Services; and Mr. Vivek Tripathi, Associate Director, PwC. The panel explored transformative possibilities in AI and its potential to power India’s vision of Viksit Bharat. In engineering, CU secured 31st rank, with an overall score of 60.46. The university stood out in Teaching, Learning & Resources (73.26) and Outreach & Inclusivity (74.33). In Management, CU secured 32nd rank. Apart from the improvement in overall rankings, USB also improved its overall score to 59.40, and categorically, the Management division performed outstandingly well in Teaching, Learning & Resources (73.83); Graduation Outcome (74.27); and Outreach & Inclusivity (78.10). In Pharmacy, CU secured 15th Rank to enter the top 20 pharmacy institutes in India with an overall score of 59.70. The division has done remarkably well in Teaching, Learning & Resources (68.30); Graduation Outcome(69.26); and Outreach & Inclusivity (75.76).
In Architecture & Planning, CU secured 14th Rank, with an overall score of 54.49, with significant scores in Teaching, Learning & Resources (71.22); Graduation Outcome (71.05); and Outreach & Inclusivity (76.01). In Research, CU secured 34th Rank among the Best Institutions in India, reflecting the university’s commitment to research and professional practice.

Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar launched Campus Tank Punjab at Chandigarh University. The program, launched with Apna and Venture Catalysts (VCats), will help young people under 30 get money and guidance to build their startups. A funding pool of USD 6 million has been created, and up to 300 student startups will be selected for support.
Over 19,000 student startups have already registered to take part. Khattar said the project will benefit students from 23,000 AICTE-affiliated colleges, helping them turn ideas into successful businesses. He added that India has grown to 1.76 lakh startups, 75,000 women-led ventures, and more than 115 unicorns, making startups key to India’s economic growth.
Satnam Singh Sandhu, Rajya Sabha MP and Chancellor of Chandigarh University, said the initiative matches Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Startup India vision. He noted that India has become the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world, creating over 17.6 lakh jobs.
Chandigarh University has already supported 150 startups and filed more than 2,500 patents in the past three years. Its Technology Business Incubator (CU-TBI) has also been ranked #1 in India for patent filings and is investing more funds in student innovation.

Chandigarh University opened the doors to India’s First AI-Augmented Multidisciplinary University in Uttar Pradesh on 26th July 2025. In a historic moment for the state, Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, beginning its journey of transforming higher education through AI-enabled education, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and industry-backed curriculum.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister began by planting a tree in the center of the campus as a symbol of blending environmental importance and technological advancements and then, in a grand ceremony, unveiled the foundation stone of the university. While addressing the students, parents, and dignitaries, he praised CU-UP for integrating artificial intelligence into its education model, which perfectly aligns with the National Education Policy and the vision of Viksit Bharat.
With an investment of Rs 2500 crores, CU-UP stands as the most advanced among all the 47 private universities in the state, remarked the Hon’ble Chief Minister, pointing out that the campus is a future hub for higher education and new standards of academic excellence. Prof. Sudhir Mishra, resident editor of Navbharat Times in Lucknow, also addressed the gathering. He applauded the administration for its active academic atmosphere and high technology infrastructural facilities that will help in increasing job opportunities for media students. He shared his experience from the industry and shared practical cases with the audience. He emphasized that technological changes are part of broader socio-historical transformations sweeping Indian society, making it necessary for many to develop new skills to keep pace. The conclave reiterated the importance of human intervention and the goal of producing ethically responsible media professionals and journalists through an updated curriculum such as that used at Chandigarh University’s School of Media Studies. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Thipendra P. Chandigarh University has once again made India proud by securing a spot among the top 2% of universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2026. Out of more than 28,500 universities that were reviewed globally, Chandigarh University jumped 125 places and now stands at the 575th position. This big achievement shows how the university is growing fast and making its mark in the world of education. This year, the QS Rankings introduced a new factor called International Student Diversity (ISD), which looks at how many international students study at a university and from how many different countries they come. Chandigarh University performed well in this area, showing that students from around the world are choosing it for their studies.

Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, in partnership with Microsoft, hosted its first AI Bootcamp, bringing together 300 students from diverse fields including engineering, business, and computer applications. The event marked the launch of a major collaboration aimed at aligning education with industry demands. Under the national “Unnati AI” initiative inspired by a recent meeting between PM Narendra Modi and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella the bootcamp was co-delivered by Microsoft, FITT IIT Delhi, and CU-UP, with operational support from CU’s Technology Business Incubator (CU TBI). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between CU UP and Microsoft will pave the way for joint programmes in AI and Machine Learning, designed to equip students with real-world skills such as Python programming and AI application.
