Eligibility for Kerala University UG Admission 2026

The minimum eligibility for Kerala University FYUGP 2026 is a pass in the Higher Secondary Examination or VHSE of the Government of Kerala, or an examination accepted as equivalent. There is no upper age limit.

Eligibility for Keralite vs Non-Keralite applicants

Kerala University categorises all applicants as Keralite or Non-Keralite. Keralites are ranked first. Non-Keralite candidates are ranked separately and considered for allotment only after all Keralite applicants have been processed. Non-Keralites are not eligible for communal reservations or fee concessions.

To be considered a Keralite, you need any ONE of the following:

  • Studied in Kerala for at least 3 years within a continuous 12-year period — course certificate from the institution required.
  • Born in Kerala — certificate from Village Officer/Tahasildar, or SSLC showing Kerala birthplace.
  • Resident of Kerala for at least 5 years within a continuous 12-year period — certificate from Village Officer/Tahasildar.
  • Parent born in Kerala — relevant page of parent's SSLC or Passport plus a relationship certificate.

Children of All India Service Officers allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed Keralites but are not eligible for communal reservation.

Qualifying examinations accepted

  • Kerala HSE / VHSE — regular students who passed in 2026 or any previous year
  • CBSE Class 12 (AISSCE) and ICSE / ISC
  • All other recognised state board Higher Secondary examinations
  • Afzal-Ul-Ulama Preliminary course — equivalent to Kerala HSE Humanities stream
  • NIOS Senior Secondary — must obtain Eligibility Certificate from University of Kerala before registration; submit to college at admission
  • Any other board that requires equivalency — obtain Eligibility Certificate from University of Kerala before registration

Note: SAY / supplementary exam candidates: If you appeared for Plus Two in June 2026 and are waiting for supplementary results, register from July 2 to July 10, 2026. Do not register now — you can only register once results are published.

For BA Music, BFA, and BPEd: register through but no centralised allotment — apply directly to colleges for aptitude tests. NISH and Bishop Moore College of Hearing Impaired are completely outside .

How the index mark works

Your rank in the allotment list is based on your index mark, not just raw Plus Two marks. The formula:

  • Kerala HSE/VHSE (2010 onwards): Total HSE marks (out of 1200) + marks in the relevant subject for the programme applied.
  • CBSE, ICSE, other boards: Total marks normalised to 1200 + twice the percentage of marks in the relevant subject.
  • NCC / NSS / Student Police Cadets / Scout & Guides (Plus Two year only): +15 marks bonus. Only one category can be claimed.
  • Ex-servicemen/widows or children of Jawans and Ex-servicemen: +15 marks bonus.

IMPORTANT: If you took more than one attempt to complete Plus Two — 10 marks are deducted for each additional attempt. Example: if you passed Plus Two in the second attempt, 10 marks are deducted from your index mark.

Kerala University FYUGP 2026 Seat Allotment Process

Kerala University follows a Centralised Allotment Process for UG admissions for admission to its affiliated colleges. Once registrations are over, the university will release a round-wise allocation list for registered candidates. The allotment process is given in the table below.

Stage

Date

What You Must Do

Trial Allotment

June 15, 2026

Log in and check where you've been tentatively placed. No fee, no commitment. Use this to review your preference order.

Last date for editing options

June 16, 2026

If the trial allotment shows a result lower than expected, revise your preference order. This is your last chance to change options before first allotment.

First Allotment

June 17, 2026

Log in to check allotment. If allotted, pay the University Admission Fee (Rs. 2800/- general | Rs. 1390/- SC/ST) through the Allotment page. Not paying forfeits the seat permanently.

College Joining (First allotment)

June 18, 19, 20, 22, 2026

Report to allotted college with all original documents on the date shown in your allotment memo. Taking temporary admission lets you retain higher options.

Second Allotment

June 24, 2026

Check for new/upgraded allotment. Candidates allotted for first time must pay University fee. Those who already paid need not pay again.

College Joining (Second allotment)

June 26, 27, 29, 2026

Report to allotted college on the date in your allotment memo.

Classes begin

July 1, 2026

How the allotment works

  • Once an allotment is issued, all options below it are automatically removed from your list. They cannot be reinstated.
  • Options above (higher preferences) remain active and you will be considered for them in future rounds.
  • If you are satisfied with an allotment, cancel all higher options and take permanent admission.
  • If you want to try for a better option: take temporary admission — show your certificates at the college and pay the University fee. You keep higher options active for the next round.
  • Temporary admission is available from first allotment. From the third allotment onwards, only permanent admission is permitted.
  • If you retain higher options after an allotment and receive a new allotment in the next round, you MUST accept the new allotment. Failing to do so means losing both the current and the new allotment — and you will not be considered for any further allotments.
  • Candidates who don't report for admission on the notified joining dates are removed from all further allotments. Read more about Kerala University Admission 2026

FAQs

The Kerala University FYUGP 2026 first allotment will be released on June 17, 2026. The trial allotment will be published a day earlier — June 15 — which shows your likely placement. You get one day (June 16) to revise your option order after seeing the trial allotment, before the first allotment is finalised on June 17. Once allotted, pay the University Admission Fee (Rs. 2800/- General | Rs. 1390/- SC/ST for HSE/CBSE/ISC students) through your allotment page. Not paying within the deadline means permanent loss of the seat.

Yes, Kerala University deducts 10 marks from your index mark for each additional attempt at the Plus Two qualifying examination. If you cleared Plus Two in your second attempt, 10 marks are deducted from your calculated index mark. If you passed in the third attempt, 20 marks are deducted. This deduction is applied before the rank list is prepared. The number of appearances you enter in Step III of the registration form must be accurate — enter the actual number of times you sat for the qualifying exam, not just the attempts you passed. Entering a wrong number is grounds for cancellation of admission.

Yes, non-Keralite candidates are eligible for Kerala University UG admission 2026. However, they are ranked separately and considered for allotment only after all Keralite applicants have been processed. Non-Keralite candidates are also not eligible for communal reservations (SEBC, SC/ST quotas) or any fee concessions from the Kerala government. To be classified as a Keralite, you need to prove Kerala origin — through schooling in Kerala, birth in Kerala, or 5-year residency in Kerala within 12 years. If you cannot prove Keralite origin, you will be considered as Non-Keralite. For most programmes, Non-Keralites get admission only if seats remain vacant after Keralite allotment.

APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) is a unique academic ID under NEP 2020. Kerala University has made it mandatory for college-level admission in 2026 — you don’t need it to register on the  portal, but you must have it when reporting to the allotted college. Generate your APAAR ID at abc.gov.in using your DigiLocker credentials (linked to Aadhaar), or through your school.

SAY (supplementary examination) candidates who appeared for Plus Two in 2026 cannot register during the main registration window (May 29 – June 14). The Kerala University FYUGP schedule has a dedicated window specifically for SAY candidates: July 2 to July 10, 2026. Once your SAY results are published, register during this window at admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in/fyugp2026/. You will be considered in allotments conducted after July 10. The university has made this provision specifically for SAY candidates — you will not be disadvantaged by the later start compared to main registration candidates.
