What’s new at Mangalore University?
Mangalore University is now accepting applications for eligible students for the MCA program in the PG department. All the candidates who fulfill the Mangalore University eligibility criteria for the course can apply for admission.
Mangalore University, also known as MU, is a public university located in Mangalore, Karnataka. The university was established in the year 1980. Mangalore University campus is spread across an area of over 353 acres and is situated about 20 km to the southeast of the historic coastal town of Mangalore. Mangalore University is recognised by UGC, accredited by NAAC and has recieved grants from UGC, DST, Govt. of Karnataka, Department of Ocean Development, Department of Electronics, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Space, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Atomic Energy and other nodal agencies. Mangalore University consists of a total of 26 postgraduate departments with 208 affiliated colleges under it.
There are also two constituent colleges of MU; one in Madikeri and another in Mangalore. The university also hosts five autonomous colleges under it. PG center has also been established by Mangalore University named Jnana Kaveri at Chikka Aluvara, Somwarpet taluk, Kodagu district, with two departments, which offer 11 postgraduate and two Ph D. programmes. Mangalore University facilities are offered to the students within the campus including a modern library, university science instrumentation center, microtron center, humanities block, MBA block, science faculty building, and a cyber cafe. Mangalore University has signed MoUs with various foreign institutions for research collaborations in the USA, UK, Finland, Japan, Norway, Germany, Spain, and other countries.
The Mangalore University courses are offered for various streams at postgraduate and Ph.D. levels for multiple streams including M.Sc, MBA, MSW, M.Ed, MCA, MA, and Ph.D. The Mangalore University admission to the MBA courses is done on the basis of the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) for which the merit list is prepared by KEA.
The university has a dedicated placement cell. The Mangalore University placement unit assists students in obtaining placements during campus placements. Mangalore University admission to courses is done on the basis of merit obtained in the qualifying exam. Selection of candidates for Mangalore University admission is done on a merit basis for marks in the entrance and qualifying examinations. Mangalore University facilities are provided to the student including a library, the University Science Instrumentation Center, the Microtron Center, the Humanities Block, the MBA Block, the Science Faculty Building, and a Cybercafe are some of the main facilities offered by Mangalore University. Three internationally renowned science research centers are located on the Mangalore University campus: the Microtron Centre, the Center for Application of Radiation and Radioisotope Technology (CARRT), and the Centre for Advanced Research in Environmental Radioactivity (CARER). These centers were founded with financial support from the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. Modern research facilities have been made possible by the Department of Science and Technology's (DST) Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) special programme for the development of research infrastructure in universities.
Mangalore University also provides health facilities, two guest homes, a shopping center, two nationalized banks, an ATM, and a post office. Computers, Internet access, and Centrex phones are available in all postgraduate departments.
There are 208 colleges that are associated with Mangalore University in total. Moreover, there are two constituent colleges that makeup MU; one is located in Madikeri, and the other in Mangalore. Five autonomous colleges are also included in Mangalore University.
Mangalore University has signed MoUs with the international universities of the following countries for research collaboration:
