Amrita University or Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, was established in 1994. The oldest campus is located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and was inaugurated with the opening of the Amrita School of Engineering. Since then, the university has been advancing its educational centres in 6 Indian states, with a total of seven campuses and 15 constituent schools spread across the southern states of India. Amrita University Courses

Amrita University, Kochi provides a number of undergraduate courses via distance learning. Courses are available in Arts, Science, Commerce, Business & Administration, Computer Science, and other subjects. Admission to AVV's undergraduate programmes is based on merit in the qualifying examination. Regular UG courses last three years while integrated programmes last five years.

Amrita University provides a number of PG courses via distance learning. Courses are available in the arts, sciences, commerce, journalism, and other professions. The institution also provides PG Diploma courses in a variety of fields in addition to PG programmes. The AVV PG courses are two years in length, whereas the PG Diploma courses are one year in length.

• Eligibility criteria for UG courses at Amrita University, Kochi is a 10+2 examination from any recognized Board with an aggregate minimum of 50% marks or any equivalent qualification or equivalent degree from any recognized university.
• An eligibility criterion for MBA at AVV is a bachelor's or master's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates with a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and three years of supervisory, managerial, or professional experience are also eligible.
• Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% in aggregate to be eligible for admission to the B.Ed programme.
• Eligibility for preparatory courses at AVV is a 10+2 examination from any recognized Board.

For MBA Admissions

• Selection criteria: Valid scores in KMAT/CAT/MAT/XAT/GRE/GMAT/CMAT
• Eligibility criteria: Students must have a bachelor's degree or a master's degree from a recognized university, or a bachelor's degree.

For M. Sc Admissions

• Selection criteria: Merit in qualifying examination and interview.
• Eligibility criteria: BSc. in Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/Statistics/B.Tech Computer Science (according to the course). Candidates must have attained a minimum of 50% in the qualifying examination (45% in the case of candidates from the reserved category).

For M. Tech Admissions

• Selection Criteria: Direct admission to GATE qualified students. Non-GATE qualified students will be admitted based on academic records and performance in interviews. 
• Eligibility Criteria: Passed with a minimum of 60% aggregate in B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Sc in the relevant engineering disciplines..

For Ph.D. Admissions

• Selection criteria: Candidates who have been shortlisted are then needed to take the AVV's Ph.D. written exam. Candidates who pass the entrance exam will be invited to a personal interview round for further consideration. The final merit list is compiled using a combination of entrance tests, interviews, and academic record scores.
• Eligibility criteria: ME/M.Tech or M.Sc./MA/MSW/MBBS/M.Com etc. degree in relevant specialization with minimum 55% marks

The online application process for AVV has been started for UG and PG courses. Candidates interested in applying for admission should go to the University's official website to fill out the application form and pay the application fee. • Carefully read the admission guidelines and sign the declaration. To continue filling out the application form, click 'I agree.'
• Fill out the first page of the Amrita University application form 2023 with your personal information, such as your name, mailing address, country, gender, guardian information, phone number, and email address. When you're finished, click the 'Save & Next button.

Admission to all PG programmes is based on academic performance in the qualifying test. There is no entrance exam for this programme at the University. The University conducts an entrance exam called the Amrita Entrance Examination Engineering (AEEE) for admission to the engineering programmes. Lateral entry admissions to the Diploma programmes are also accepted at AVV.

• Students can apply for UG and PG courses that only require class 12 and graduation grades by filling out an application form.
• Following that, the college will produce a merit list based on the grades received. The pupils will be chosen based on their overall characteristics.

AEEE or Amrita Entrance Examination - Engineering is a national-level entrance exam conducted annually in both online and offline mode organized by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University for admissions into various undergraduate engineering programs. Valid scores from several state and national level entrance exams are accepted by AVV. Entrance exam scores are compulsory for MBA, B.Ed and PhD admissions. Students are selected based on their AIR/ State rank.

Amrita University provides scholarships to students from GATE and NON-GATE candidates. Endowment Scholarships for Non-GATE Students

Eligibility Criteria for Amrita University, Kochi Scholarships

Candidates who have appeared for AEEE and other rank holders can apply for scholarships at AVV.  All the M. Tech. Programs of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham are approved by AICTE for GATE scholarships. Amrita University, Kochi scholarships are offered to students according to their marks and admission interview performance.

The opportunity is open to students from the OBC, SC, ST, and Minority categories. The award is open to applicants whose family's annual income is modest and who require financial aid to continue their studies. Candidates must have received a minimum of qualifying grades in previous classes.

Now, the scholarships are divided into two sections-

• Amrita Chancellor Scholarship: this is a 100% fee waiver scholarship for which the eligibility is a score of 75% and/or more in Grade 12, UG, and PG.
• Amrita Meritorious Scholarship: this is a 40% fee waiver scholarship for which the eligibility is a score of 60% to 74% in Grade 12 and UG. 

Amrita University Campus

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has an extensive campus being set up at Kochi that comprises a pre-eminent medical institute, the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) along with the School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, College of Nursing, School of Pharmacy & School of Allied Health Sciences and Center for Nanosciences. The campus though dominated by the health science schools is not entirely restricted to medical sciences and has a School of Arts and Sciences and School of Business as well. Amrita University Infrastructure

Amrita University, Kochi has an impressive Central library. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Central Library is a valuable partner in users’ pursuit of excellence in learning and research. Our value lies in the valuable information resources, services and facilities that we provide to all users. The Central library has a carpet area of 81,000 sq feet. The library has been automated by the Libsys software. We have an open access system. We have a wide range of library materials that cater to various learning resources of 58103 books, 377 Periodicals, 3000+ online e-resources like e-journals, e-books, conference proceedings, e-databases and standards, 2650 Project reports, 7086 back-volumes, 4781 CD/DVDs resources and 14 Daily News Papers. The library's principal mission is to assist the University's teaching and research programmes by providing physical and intellectual access to knowledge. In line with the University's goals, the library aspires to establish a comprehensive collection of papers helpful to users.

Digital Library

The Digital Library has centrally air-conditioned and has a capacity of 170 users. Currently, 100 users can access it simultaneously. The Internet Access facility is available in the digital section. The ASE and ASB Library subscribe to the online e-resources/e-databases such as ACM, ASCE, ASME, ASTM, Access Engineering from McGraw-Hill, J-Gate (JET) & (SMS), IEEE Xplore (ASPP), Science Direct-Elsevier , Springer Journals and E-books, DELNET (bibliographic database), EBSCO, Proquest, IBID , Capitaline and SUNNY BUFFALO (State University of New York).

Computing Facilities

The Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) Department is identifies, provides and maintains reliable computing facilities, computing network environment, communication facilities and related infrastructure to facilitate education, research, instructional and Institute approved business services.

The department administers all computer laboratories on the campus. The laboratories extend all facilities required by students to fulfill their requirements for academic purposes. The department staff in these labs also assists students in their academic work. All staff rooms are also equipped with sufficient computers to help faculty to carry out their day-to-day academic requirements and also to help them in their research activities.

At locations where wireless connectivity is essential, Wi-Fi hotspots have been set up to allow users to connect to the campus network over wireless links. Network cabling within a laboratory or a block is designed and implemented using the structured cabling approach. This allows flexibility and scalability for expansions in the future. 

Hostels

Separate hostel facilities are provided for girls and boys. Their stay in the hostel enables them to imbibe a holistic lifestyle with activities like yoga, sports and extra-curricular activities. There are eight hostels in the campus which accommodate above 3500 inmates. P.G students and final year U.G students are allotted single rooms. All hostels are equipped with solar water heaters for hot water supply.

Pure vegetarian food prepared under hygienic conditions is served in the student dining halls and the canteens from a central Kitchen. Night cafeteria is attached with all hostels.
