College of Teacher Education, Andhra Mahila Sabha owes its origin to the dedicated efforts and dynamic leadership of Padma Vibhushan Dr.(Smt).Durgabai Deshmukh ,the Founder President of AMS,the first voluntary organization to work for the cause of women and their empowerment . She established the college in 1971 on obtaining permission from Govt of A.P. and got affiliated to O.U. A class above the other Colleges of Education in the State, this college can fluant off without any qualms that it created a bench mark in maintaining the high quality of education relevent to the needs of the society. Its uniqueness in thet it created certain mile stones that deserve a brief mention hereunder: Being the only college of Education to receive assistance under COSSHIP Only college to get assistance for restructured cources under the faculty of education First institution under voluntary organizations on get a project from UNICEF through NCERT. This project culminated into SRC in ECE in the State of Andhra Pradesh CTE status conferred – A unique privilege conferred to a Private Aided College in Andhra Pradesh Only Private Aided single faculty college offering five teacher preparation cources at differrent levels.
