Candidates do not have to appear for any entrance exam for taking admissions at the Calcutta Media Institute Kolkata. Candidates must have their 10+2+3 certificates from the UGC-approved universities for admission to the Postgraduate courses. Similarly, only a 10+2 certificate is required to participate in the workshops or the certificate courses at CMI Kolkata.

The curriculum for the postgraduate course is for a period of one year. For each year, students will have two semesters.
